probably wrong, but what if the lava rocks are parts of a rock human that's been split up, that has a stand that attracts things of value, and it just can't turn into the 'human' form? i can't find a good reason why it would start crumbling like it did in this chapter though, maybe a limitation of the stand/the rock human is using too much energy

I don't get it, wasn't it said that the first head of the family's name is supposed to start with the first letter of the latin alphabet? Why does his name start with "L"?

Okay, alright, new information!
The lava rocks have, seemingly, a "limit". A certain amount of "Value", be it monetary or not, that's drawn in before they start to crumble. But does this mean there's a greater Lava Rock somewhere? Or, perhaps, the Lava Rock is like...something at the core of the volcano...and these chunks are offshoots.
I suspect there's "something" at the core of the islands...and that "something" is only barely brushing against the surface...

Making an insane prediction right here, if I'm actually right about this I'll never shut up about it.

So Key's University question to Dragona definitely feels like a clichéd "Trick question to call out the other person on a bluff"; however, she only starts questioning Dragona after she reacts to the really out of place merry-go-round on the ship, which shouldn't have been suspicious at all – unless, of course, the average person wouldn't notice it at all...

What if the merry-go-round is actually Key's Stand?

My theory at this point is that if the lava rock is working as a magnet for "things of value", then it makes sense that that "value" is also magnetic but of the opposite polarity. Put a big enough stack of cash near it and it's the rock that will get pulled in instead.

Only real flaw I can see with this is that the land rights/deed the rock is currently attracting is definitely a higher value than those briefcases, but as far as we know it wasn't crumbling from reeling that in.

My backup theory is that Dragona is mentally drooling at that cash so hard that the rock is responding, & the contradiction of wanting the land AND the bribe money is confusing/wearing down the rock from how much causality manipulation calculations it's having to do to figure out how to get both.
