IIRC from the WN, our protagonist goes through some humiliating and extremely painful stuff (I think the mage blows off his limbs and regenerates them multiple times early on for some insane reason I can't recall, not even because he was resisting, trying to escape or anything like that) thanks to these bitches, so this is very much NOT in an enviable situation. These bitches are 1000% insane, made entirely of red flags (I recall them going to war with the entirety of humanity and decimating it just because they don't want to hand over their husband). Run for your life.

well, his defeat may have you overlook on what he have done.
in the pass years of his sovereignty as the demon king, we were told that he have managed to defeat every single warriors who dared challenge him.
as for his past feats other than protecting his title in his time, it's common sense for us readers to already know that..

"demon kings" are stronger than any demons, that's why they're the leader of the demons. so i think the girls were just too strong, for the sake of the plot.
