Despite her tsun'ing and saying she won't teach her magic, I assume she will eventually. While its technically possible the child will learn magic all on their own like the lock picking, that seems unlikely; she might get the basics before they decide to properly teach her though.

Thanks for the TL. Always excited to see another chapter from this title, whatever the wait may be.

Toddler Vio is adorable. I wonder what specifically happened in Eli's past to make her not want to teach s9meone magic - I assume "again" is the implication, at least.

But I am betting Vio is much more than merely human, like Eli herself. Will be interesting what goes down with Violet when Eli inevitably lays down for a couple-years' nap, though.

So she HAS overslept like this before. That's pretty worrying.

It may have been 4 months for the chapter, but the chapter is good enough to wait for. Putting a toddler in peril is an easy way to hit the feels. Writing a cliff where said toddler goes on a journey to find their lost mother, with the negligent mage? It's got my heartstrings tangled up.

Cheers to Violet the mage! Jeers to Violet the corpse.

I hope the girl is capable of hunting and cooking in a case when the witch decides to take a short nap :pacman:

So she HAS overslept like this before. That's pretty worrying.
I mean... it's entirely possible that she accrues sleep debt like the rest of us without suffering from the negative effects of it, so her body works to 'catch up' on missed sleep if she remains awake for extended periods of time. That's because sleep is more for the mind to 'defrag' and run simulations to break down and better understand/prepare for various events that have/could happen than it is for the body -not that the body doesn't make good use of the time for healing and recovery, given it's basically 'low power' mode, and more resources can be devoted to it than while awake. It's actually why getting a good night's sleep helps far, far more, both for puzzle-solving and information retention, than overnight cram sessions or running through the problem at hand over and over. (Naturally, the best is a mix -getting the information or problem active in the mind, then resting to let the subconscious mind work through it all.) And that's all just stuff that may have carried over from when she was human, or applies to us in a non-magic world.

Then there's a possibility it's tied to how her personal immortality works, since it appears to be different from the elf's. Personally, I'm leaning to the possibility it may be connected to her use of magic. Every instance so far that she's overslept, she had used magic shortly before, even in the story she told the group just now, and the magic she has used held far more power or complexity than Vio's lockpicking.

No multi-year nap at the end of the chapter this time. I was kinda hoping every chapter would end with one, lol. There's still a reference to one in the story she told though.

Stories like this where they focus on mortality and stuff are always morbidly interesting to me for some reason.
