Why whatever higher beings in manga universe always give scumbags/idiots the hero class?

If you want humanity to win - you anoint people who have proven themselves worthy with the title of a hero, a holy artifact and a boost of power. A common approach is to put a holy artifact at the end of a series of trials that will prove the would-be hero's worthiness.

But if you want to test humanity - you dump the hero title and powers on the shoulders of an ordinary person. Will they prove capable of saving the world? Do they have the heart to assemble a good party? Do they love this world enough to keep fighting when the going gets tough? Are they even good enough of a person to actually fight evil?

And if you really hate humanity - you summon a hero from an alternate world. And hope their influence will change humanity for the better, for example, teach them to love beastmen instead of enslaving them. At the very least, they'll bring some new dishes for you to eat.

On the one hand, typical fantasy with OP MC. On the other, at least he frees them from being slaves instead, but despite no "slave contract", we also need to consider (on the other other hand) they're in the middle of nowhere and he's their best bet to survive. So not as much "free will" as it'd like to pretend, when there's literally nothing else to do, since they're summoned, aka everyone was teleported and doesn't know how to get out.


If we see something to disprove that last thing, as much "Oh another OP guy kicked out of a party" this can get i'll put it above a lot of other fantasy stories. I want to applaud this for finally not being about getting another slave and "oh, but he treats us better", but we'll see if i comfortably do so without it being just a rewording but still no other options

This is free will. But in the real world, there is no such thing as absolute freedom. There are always circumstances.
But the slaves' condition improved greatly - they are now more like peasants, or maybe even like a noble's retainers.

Something planned all along to be written for several chapters to draw interest to the story and then terminated so that you have to buy the LN for more story.

Some anime are produced for a season or two and then not continued to attract attention to the LN or manga.

Being kicked out of your previous party is a common start for fantasy manga that doesn't want to have an outright isekai. I think it's fuelled by MMORPG players of support classes who feel underappreciated. As a player who usually plays tanks, I perfectly understand this trend.

Or just doesn't understand said party member's kit... Like not letting the beast tamer have a monster army, calling a necromancer a creep to the face, limiting the amount of MP a sage have, or just plain abusing tank or logistic support party member

Guild girl didn't send him there to die. He's a paladin so he is actually really strong against the supposed monsters there. But I don't think she realized just how bad the situation is.

She is purposely sending him into a difficult situation. And she's doing it in a way to help the mage girl. Basically, the intent is to make him really want someone to help him. And tadah, Ellie goes and helps him out with things and they become a couple. That's pretty much the reasoning behind things.

The silliest I've seen, is when they have a limit to the number of party members, and so they want to remove some support or logistic members to make space for damage-dealers.
I'd say something like what happened in "Dragon, Hero and Courier" ch. 2 is much more sane. Where the hero going to slay a dragon attracts a small army of various hangers-on, such as craftsmen wanting to get their hands on dragon body parts.

At least the one which has a guy named craft has a legit explained that his built and job didn't match, he's a shit mage, but his actual talent is at Golden Dawn alchemist, which is something like the equivalent of of sword saint to a Swordsman

I know people were getting mad at the whole slave thing, but this chapter honestly dispelled any real notion of this being some pseudo slave fetish manga. She is completely liberated and he made that clear to her, so she has complete agency over her life and he has not control over (nor does he act in any controlling manner towards her). Nor does she act like she will be his slave anyway. For all intents and purposes, they are just teaming up here. Of course, idk what happens in later chapters, so this might change.

But it seems like the whole slave thing was clickbait lol (I'll admit that I fell for it because of impure reasons).

I didn't think of that. I figured it was some sort of salaryman delusion where the guy thinks he is the one that secretly holds the group together. "I'm the one that spotted the mistake on the presentation and corrected it without anyone noticing." "The girl of the group likes me, not you." "You'll see how quickly you fall apart after I'm gone."
