This. People used to get frustarted when a romcom would end at the confession/kiss/dating, and cheer whenever a series dared to go longer. But we've had about a decade of the post-dating meta, and I can say that a lot of those series would have been better served just ending earlier. The authors rarely have a plan for the story after the characters hook up, and watching the two leads "be cute together" gets old quicker than you'd think - especially in a scenario like this where they've basically been dating for ages. There's something to be said for ending on a high note, instead of dragging it out until everybody is bored.

(btw the word is "denouement", "denouncement" makes it sound like they're headed for a bad end lol)
Thanks for correction XD But yeah, we are in a world where there have been dozens of rom-coms that actually moved past the dating phase and not every one of them managed to make it work.

I totally agree. The way this manga has gone, you could drop these two goofballs in any situation and nothing would really change. You could have them be married 10 years with two kids and the actions would basically be totally the same. They're going to be mindless idiots with each other forever, doesn't matter if they're married or dating or are grandparents!
True.

The stone has been set, the die has been casted, their fate has been sealed, et cetera, et cetera. There's no escaping from their marriage.

She should have just admitted she overheard, give it a few seconds and she's gonna realize she basically just said she herself desires to take the relationship to the next level and beyond.

Now it would be the time for a proposal. Not that it's really needed since their marriage is basically already a done deal.

I think there's a big difference between ending it right there at that scene, and ending it a few chapters later. That goes in particular for when the couple has done the drag-on dance for long enough already until the readers are tired of it and then just ends with the confession. But even if that's not the case, if that's the end of it it feels like the author doesn't think there's anything else of worth to the story than that scene. Just another fast-food story done and added to the pile.

But past that it should only continue if there's some new arc to explore, unless the entire manga has been more about the SoL than explicitly about the romance.

It's about denouement. Ending right at the climax makes it ring hollow since most of the stories need some wind down time to actually make it work. Even one or two chapters.
