Even her body is tired of lack of progress and tried to do it it's own way!
Good so you see it too, people are really trying to defend the pacing

Idk bout everyone here, but I actually have a better time reading Nagatoro, these 2 need to take notes from that pair

Hmm... Tough one. Nagatoro is a much more "active" work, as there are subplots that have little to nothing to do with their relationship, whereas here, ALMOST everything directly relates to Ooyama and Akutsu's relationship. The pacing definitely "feels" different without anything to "distract" you from the primary conflict. That being said, this one should be in the downslope, in as much as Nagatoro should be as well, just at different speeds. As much as I hate to say it, economics probably play a role in the pacing, in the "endgame" or "major event" periods anyway. For Akutsu, the next major event is pretty clear, Nagatoro, it's entirely practical to go through the current arc and dick around for another couple dozen chapters.

Don't get me wrong, I love both, but they're very different.lol besides, Akutsu is not Nagatoro, and Ooyama doesn't have some grand personal development quest he's on like Hachiouji (prodded along by Nagatoro, no less). I can see you enjoying the difference, there's "more going on" in Nagatoro, thematically.

Dude's got thicker eyebrows after styling them. Eyebrow job?

Oops. I think she accidentally a sentence there. Again. Come on, stop being a coward.

For all you English speakers, she didn't directly say she loves him. Its all about how Japanese people use context to say almost everything. You can easily say you were talking about something else in Japanese.
She absolutely 100% directly did say she loves him. It was completely unambiguous when she said it. She just chickened out after the fact and decided to retract it with the flimsiest of excuses. The only person who would buy her stupid excuse, in either English or Japanese, is Ooyama because he's as dense as a neutron star.

It wasn't unambiguous in the original text. But still the kind of thing only a moron would not catch on to what she meant lmao.
Ooyama may have future as a lawyer given how ready he is to jump at the flimsiest plausible deniability and wording loophole.

Not true at all. Japanese is so easy to interrupt what someone else is saying. English is more direct, that's why there are not a lot of direct translation to Japanese to English. She didn't directly say she love "HIM". And that's why it he could easily be confused there. In English we would actually say "I like "YOUU"" or say there name. But Japanese is all about context. They both know they love each other, so there is no denseness.

I mean, they both already know they like each other. But it's all about them trying to spit it out. Its easier to retract statements in Japanese than English because we are more direct and actually say everything in our sentence structure.

You're right about them being different, at least those 2 have come to terms about how they feel about each other (personally but don't outright say it to each other) however at least with them, they're not scared to spend time with each other, hell Naoto has actually been more serious about how he talks about her to others, and he doesn't deny that he feels something towards her, Nagatoro who used to bully him is now ready to throw hands with anyone who messes with Naoto or disrespects him, hell she was ready to fight Machida on multiple occasions due to how she talks to him recklessly, and Naoto has to hold her back which makes me laugh

Those 2 show more how they care for each other vs these 2 either being scared or passive

That's just my personal opinion, but I do agree with what you say for the most part, I just want Ooyama and Riko to take that next step in their relationship, the little nudges here and there are just not cutting it for me
