Part of the joke is that the main female character of this manga is just as bad. Still, they're young, and previous chapters have already brought up that she's aware she gets overly intense (and that the boyfriend is just as bad at establishing boundaries). They can probably work it out in time.

Or not. They're definitely set up as sort of a typically frivolous high school couple that could very realistically break up given the right circumstances.
