Time for some med knowledge: Blood transfusion isn't actually as easy as it sounds. Blood from close relatives pose a high risk of transfusion associated GVHD (rare but very fetal).
And even from unrelated people repeated rapid transfusion can cause something known as the lethal triad (so she likely needs highly magic concentrated blood which I guess not many have other than active adventures and they don't want to donate cause it may weaken them)

though i doubt the writer actually thought that far ahead

Meh. This is very unoriginal and has been done to death but I think it should be at least entertaining if done right so I'll stick around for a while. Don't think it will hold up for long, though. Saw so many stories of this kind that went to become generic harem power fantasies after a while that I'm sick of it.
