@Wolvenworks @gaigous idk even if he developed feelings he'd still be classified as evil tbh, evil has feelings, every evil thinks theyre doing the "right" thing, its just twisted and wrong. Having justification doesnt matter, EVERYONE thinks they have justification, the battle between evil and good is ultimately a battle between selfishness and selflessness, anyone can think they are doing things for the right reasons, after all so did hitler at the end of the day (he of course thought wrong lol). Our character takes things from people not because its necessary, he doesnt NEED to twist and pervert those he encounters, he does so because he WANTS to. which makes him evil, even if his motive was something like love. In fact falling in love or something might make him a deeper character instead of just a ball of hate and OPness.
Neutral evil is a good classification for him imo, it means that he will follow laws when they suit him, and destroy them when they dont, he has no real moral code, so hes not lawful evil. He might slowly develop into lawful evil tho which would be good character development, as it would allow his character to move further from chaotic evil, which u NEVER want in your MC(i didnt really think much about it when we discussed this before), chaotic evil is a force that just randomly destroys, it is ultimately selfish and destroys not for any reason at all but out of pure selfishness and a hate for good. for example the goblins as depicted in goblin slayer ep 1 would be a good example of Chaotic evil, just animalistic raping monstrosities. You could actually argue that the MC in this is CE, but i think he tends more towards NE due to his willingness to comply to laws and what not. Frankly CE is often just really stupid, unable to think with higher order functions. Or they're absolutely insane and think that the world is their toy and everyone else are just dolls to torment and break.
Amusingly, it tends to be that the more chaotic a character is the easier it is to predict them, and the same with evil( to a lesser extent) because unlike a fairy tale, a realistic setting is complicated enough that there very rarely ARE easy, or right, answers. An easy example of this is the famous spiderman issue, do you save the woman you love or the bus of school children? Assume that the character really CANT save them both, and you see why its much easier (and thus more 2D since there is less chance for character development) to be closer to chaotic evil. it is only when a character is forced into defeat, challenged on some mental and fundamental level, that they truly grow, which is why we see so little character development in most isekai (since the MC is so op they just solve all their problems)
