@Versub, never underestimate good supporting roles in a large military action. Recon, logistics, and tactics can be offered by any rank. He is probably considered the lowest rank among demons because it is purely about combat prowess. It's not the fact that he is weak, but was kept intentionally weak.

The demon side makes me think it's just a criminal gang, not a whole realm of demons. Apparently their battle prowess heavily depended on one man arranging everything. That's not fitting for a country. With such incompetence in leadership, the demon country should collapse internally very soon, without the humans needing to do anything. Well, should, but I guess it won't and this is just the mangaka depicting it all quite haphazardly.

@Vasqueztion with how the translations are, im not really sure, but im guessing that previous demon king's son is the flame specialized heavenly king, and is the one acting as the demon king (as a proxy? a replacement?)

@jimmyclear I think it's worse. I think he has daddy issues. I could easily see him being compared to or having the MC held up as an example throughout the fire king's childhood, and considering the magicless nature of the mc it probably rubbed him wrong for years, decades even. Kind of like the adventurer brat's issues on steroids. It's not just admitting a mistake, his identity is probably on the line.
