Honestly just wanna see him live in peace. Feels like he's been used so much by the Demon Army and the same thing'll happen if he goes with the Heroes. I get the feeling that they'll treat him better, but it's essentially the same thing.

I doubt the heroes would treat him better. They would use him as a weapon and when he gets depressed about hurting those he used to care about, I can see them ditching him.

The wife really just needs to smack a bitch. Forget the demon lord if you can't get past the wife.

One of the cats is really hungry.

@deathmailrock The demons kicked him out. The low caste liked him a lot since he made things work for them, but many in the leadership actually hated him because he was supposed to be worthless, having no magic, yet he still got things done. That's generally insufferable in the eyes of the nobility because he would make them look bad in comparison. So, they threw him out the first chance they got. Now Dariel has higher priorities, like his own family, and the village he's supposed to protect.

I really like this MC; he is not like the other MC of the "got kicked out of the party" trope: he is neither thirsty for revenge, nor selfless to the point of suicide attempt.
He loves his family, his village, and he wants to live with them; he also remember some of his friends from the " Demon King's right hand" time and he still care about them, since he spent more than half of his life with them. It's cool <3

Okay that heroes party can actually go jump in a volcano and kill themselves. If someone says no, you leave it at that. Just because someone has the power doesn’t mean you have a right to force them to do something they don’t want to. You ESPECIALLY don’t walk into a man’s home and tell him “none of that is important” when he talks about protecting his family IN FRONT OF HIS WIFE AND SON. What are the heroes even protecting if they’ve lost sight of this? They talk like they’re the good guys, but immediately try to take away someone’s freedom and blatantly tell him his son is unimportant. Not to mention that up to this point, but we (readers) and the MC feel more a connection and empathize more with the demon’s army (who aside from one idiot have always treated the mc highly, and yet currently still choose to respect his wishes and freedom despite desperately needing him (well those that know where he is; the others are seriously pissed that the one idiot pushed their greatest talent and asset away)). Actually from as far as we know the demon’s are the good guys and humans bad guys (especially if these are the heroes that represent humanity). More than anything, I’d rather see the MC protect the heavenly king (queen?) he worked with (and we saw was kind and connected and respected the people (unlike the hero calling all of them unimportant)) to the and kill those asshat heroes (really he could have done so after they FREAKING CALLED HIS SON UNIMPORTANT; to a parent that’s more than enough reason to kill someone (maybe not to the law.....)). I’m throughly disappointed the wife didn’t showcase her ridiculous strength and hit the female hero as she called HER SON UNIMPORTANT (I feel like the author is seriously missing how completely insulting and infuriating that should be to a parent; especially new parents).

On a lighter note: can we acknowledge that this man is drinking his wife’s breast milk (set aside for his son) with no shame. Respect. And logically speaking it makes more sense for a grown man to drink milk from his human wife meant for his son than some random cow meant for the cow’s calf (..... there is no way to explain milk that doesn’t sound completely insane). Does he drink it from the source at night? If so that’s something to be jealous about.

@Kaarme 1st, that was a very small portion.

2nd, they still raised him and took care of him. His father is still a demon.

3rd, the humans also have those kind of douches as well, but he still chooses to protect those important to him.

4th, he still had friends, and if the humans have their way, it's the innocent demons he cares about that would suffer.

@TNT261 It's actually perfectly normal. It gives us nutrition, it is a large source of food, and it's much more readily available. The reason breast milk isn't considered normal to drink is because in olden times (and even now) many woman couldn't actually produce enough for their kids... so drinking one of the few things the baby could drink was considered wrong.....

It wasn't unusual for children to die back then.

So between cows milk which could be harvested in quite large quantities and give humans the nutrition they need vs a very limited milk that was needed for babies to survive, it's obvious which one humans would drink.

As creatures, we humans are being that survive by taking nutrients from multiple sources.... so what's actually weird is when we don't eat other foods good for us just cause we find them strange...

Jeez, Marika sure is a cow if she can fill several bottles a day. I'm surprised he likes titty milk. It does not taste good

@deathmailrock 5th how important is hero work actually? It is basically a glorified assassin.

6th she is planning to assassinate one of the more passive rulers. No doubt she will provoke a attack with that.

@deathmailrock I said logically. As in when you say it outloud based on only those facts. You gave me medical and historical reasons. More factually speaking and a lot more outwardly looking. To clarify: Knowing only that we drink cow’s milk (which is produced for baby cows (calfs) sounds pretty weird. I mean have you ever looked or thought about something and used the limited information you had and logical thinking and thought “wait that doesn’t make sense”. Sure there’s A reason for it, but without knowing that reason it just sounds crazy and nonsensical.

@Kaarme um, no? The demons didn’t kick him out. ONE demon did. The new heavenly king (son) that had just taken over from his dad. Once he did that there were a couple of people going along with him, but it was basically just that one stupid clique in highschool that fuels each other’s stupidity. Most of the leadership, his comrades, and his subordinates loved him. There’s a chapter where the literal demon king (literal highest higher up) says that we wouldn’t have any trouble is you kept Dariel. We found out that the previous heavenly king (father) that retired and who had Dariel as his right hand SPECIFICALLY TOLD his son “hey just let Dariel handle everything. He’s the most useful guy ever” (I’m probably paraphrasing) and there was a chapter where we saw the son get the shit beaten out of him when they dad learned he kicked out Dariel. The dude was loved in the demon army. Hell, the whole mine incident only resolved peacefully because his previous subordinates (who hated it after he left) and his previous comrade all worked with him to set up a nice trade. Now in the earliest chapters it seemed as if the demon’s hated and mistreated him (like his comrade who turned out to be a friend looked like more a bully in the start), but as it went on and we got more background information and saw the reactions to his departure, it became obvious that only one guy actually hated him (which might be because the author was trying to make a joke on the “kicked out” trope or was originally planning that story; idk why exactly), and that was because the son heavenly king had serious daddy issues and was jealous. He had a GREAT relationship with the demon’s army. He was provided for and praised for his work. Was noticed by the higher ups and given the credit he deserved. Was provided for and seemed to love everyone. The problem is as you say in the end. Once he left he did manage to move on and he learned more about himself (that he’s human) and fell in love. There’s very little they can do at that point to persuade him back (maybe offer to make the village a territory and let them keep their sovereignty, but with the demon king army’s protection, but even then he’s just not looking to be away from his family at all now).

@TNT261 To me, that seems logical... cause lots of women don't have enough boob milk and humans had milk from other animals for thousands of years.... and we can eat anything nutritious... that's the kind of creatures we are....

So to me, it's weirder when we don't eat certain foods that should be good for us. Because we can eat almost anything that is good for us.... we humans even hunt and eat the most poisonous animals in the world.

The hero's party is so damn selfish it's unbelievable, they're asking a dude they just met to come fight with them and potentially die, while he has a newborn baby, a wife, he's the mayor of a town, lots of people rely on him. And yet they're like "whaaaaaaaaaat ?? You don't want to come risk your life for nothing ?! "
