I dunno, at least one of them seemed to be fully aware hence the assignment in the first place. Doesn't change the fact it's still a huge cliche, but at least it was a "My subordinate is a damn idiot for firing him, ESPECIALLY without my approval!" instead of the usual "Everyone is only now realizing why we needed him."
