Have a feeling that the hero and demon king switched up. Maybe something like the Hero wanted to save the Demon King like how Albus save Fiona, but the switch become permanent because the Hero couldn't handle the miasma or something.

didn't we saw a little backstory of them when they were apprentices of magic?, and the demon lord was already going for an evil path there D:
it's a good theory if we get the switch, but I'm a little doubtful as the OG hero was trying to get the rewind magic too.
