Hoo boy do I not agree with that logic. "You're not responsible for the outcome of creating a new incredibly powerful weapon, only the person who does the killing with it is responsible!"

If this were something like a tool which then enabled bad action by it's invention, maybe, sure. But this is a weapon. It has no purpose other than harming. You are responsible for the outcomes of your actions even if you don't directly pull the trigger. Do we not think governments are responsible for acts of aggression committed by their military members, only the soldiers who directly caused it? No, that'd be silly.

18 chapters in and I'm just wondering when he'll figure out that a blacksmith can make more than just swords, knives and arrows. Imagine instead of weapons that can change the course of history, he makes mithril horseshoes.

Obviously they can't have the OP blacksmith MC stop making swords, that'd like, defeat the whole point of the concept of this manga. But it's really hard to morally justify what he's doing, when he has the apparently unique ability to make extremely powerful and dangerous weapons, and then just sell them off to whoever orders them (through some guy he likes, to be fair, but still, it's a guy he met a couple of months ago and who makes a living selling things, so exactly how far can he really trust him to vet the clients and ONLY pass through people who he can be super sure won't do anything terrible with the weapons?). Predictably, he doesn't come to the conclusion that he should stop making powerful weapons or stop selling them. But his reasoning for doing so was just like, clown fiesta. Um, yeah, you are actually totally responsible for putting swords in the hands of those who misuse them. Even if you only sell them to "good guys", you are very responsible for introducing new extremely powerful swords that didn't previously exist into circulation. I think it would've been better for the author to just avoid the moral self-reflection altogether, cause there's just no way you can make it sound good.

It's irrelevant to the manga cause it's a manga about a swordsmith, but if he was serious about solving the moral dilemma, then just stop making weapons altogether. Couldn't he use his cheat ability to make innovative non-lethal utility tools? Like, super efficient tools for excavation, farming, construction, irrigation, etc.? Maybe some machines not previously seen in this world? Stuff that can improve the economy rather than increase the incidence and severity of violent confrontations?

Magic exists in this world, and we haven't really seen much of it. Like, there hasn't been a sage or a wizard that's showed up and just started dropping spells.

Could be that magic that's basically the equivalent of weapons of mass destruction exists. So I don't really see basically a really sharp sword as being unbalancing the world. Yes, he's going to ruin the day of any regular sword user he comes up against (and, well, even then it's not guaranteed, if there's someone out there that can dodge your attacks and stab you, you're going to die even with a super sword). However, it's not going to stop a wizard from magic nuking him if that exists.
