on the title page it says that either this one or that one might be serialized, so apparently both were only in a kind of preview serialization

This artist's style has improved a lot. I remember another one of his works about that Russian girl transfer student, and the art style was very strange. In some panels, the characters had those Captain Tsubasa-style proportions. I couldn't recognize his style at first here; it only clicked for me on page 10, when the MC gets surprised.
