I thought they were both on the same page that they liked each other awhile back or did I get it wrong?

Seems like the author wants to milk the story. Not a bad thing if you consider it's how they make a living but shoehorning plot devices that doesn't make sense is not a good way.

This plot has become very uninteresting. Akari has instantly become the most interesting character in the story solely because it's interesting to see characters want and try to achieve something, and the others are kind of listless in comparison.

The "oshi" characters in romcom manga tend to be vegetables (see also: Oshibana, Kanokari), probably because there wouldn't be a series otherwise. Imagine if Ibuki had any initiative:

Ibuki "hi Tomo, I like you, wanna go out?"
Tomo "Of course I do! Everyone in this manga's universe does! I'll be in your care!"
Ibuki "Yay, we're now dating!"
The End. Look forward to author-san's next oneshot!

As much as I want the obvious couple to win. I don't want new girl to lose! Let it be that she ends up falling for transfer guy and no misunderstandings occur.

Didn’t she just say she was gonna go all out?
Reminds me of, I think it was Peach Girl? It's been too long so I may be mixing up details, but FL decides to go on an onsen trip to lose her virginity with XML because he's her "one and only"… but he's late getting to the station because he had to take his mom to the hospital, so she takes YML to the onsen instead. And he gets to the station just in time to see them leaving, with her looking smitten.

Well... k.

Kinda feel like i lost interest in this. Not in the 'bad' way where something offended me so much that i stopped reading it, but more in the 'i just cant relate to anyone or anything in this anymore' way.
Man I hate the reaction options cuz there's none that basically say "that's fair you are completely valid for feeling that way"

That awkward moment when you are still viking with the plot even though it's clunky.

I don't think Tomo's aversion to love came out of nowhere he's always been dense we now know that in addition to being dense he's actively avoided exploring those emotions.

He's definitely experiencing new emotions in regards to Ibuki just now he has Akari there to guide him and help wake up and smell the coffee beans at an appropriate time. (Akari rules and deserves a romance manga of her own tbh).

The new guy is doing a lot less for the plot merely existing to cause jealousy so far though I acknowledge the attempt to have Ibuki work through her problems with having a persona with someone else who has a persona.

bro hundreds and hundreds of romcoms out there and you choose kanojo okarishimasu as an exemple?....

Also, there's a whole ton of romcom manga that the characters arent vegetables. like, whole ton.

Ah... Okay. It's almost like the author is separating the couples, model with tomboy and MC with bright girl.

I am getting this feeling this is going to stick.

I'm talking about a very specific kind of romcom character here, which is the "oshi" type; you know, the guy/gal who everyone in the story admires like an idoru.
That description fits Chorizo from Kanokari very well. People admire her unconditionally and she usually responds by acting perfectly polite, without ever letting a thought or feeling slip through. Ibuki is a less robotic version of this.
Another possible example from an infinitely better manga is Komi-san, however she is definitely not a nothingburger. We know her emotions, what's on her mind and see her doing stuff and trying to fight the entire idea of being an "oshi". She wants closer bonds, friendships, not to maintain the image of perfection
