its just I thought kanokari being garbage was the common sense lol, i wouldnt use it as exempleI'm talking about a very specific kind of romcom character here, which is the "oshi" type; you know, the guy/gal who everyone in the story admires like an idoru.
That description fits Chorizo from Kanokari very well. People admire her unconditionally and she usually responds by acting perfectly polite, without ever letting a thought or feeling slip through. Ibuki is a less robotic version of this.
Another possible example from an infinitely better manga is Komi-san, however she is definitely not a nothingburger. We know her emotions, what's on her mind and see her doing stuff and trying to fight the entire idea of being an "oshi". She wants closer bonds, friendships, not to maintain the image of perfection
And again, i've already read a bunch of these type of romcom that the cast arent just vegetables. A bunch that they are too.. But I think thats more a bad writing thing than a ""subgenre"" (the 'oshi type') thing
