Wait, why is this supposed to be sad? I thought they had already established with each other that it's not romantic and that he had a crush on someone else and that they were just friends?
Feelings don't just go away overnight. And being told by someone you're in love with that they're now dating someone else has an entirely different sort of finality to it than just being told "no." Having any lingering (realistic) hope of "something" happening snuffed out once and for all... yeah. Yeah...

The art is subtle about it but I do enjoy the little detail of how as their relationship progresses she gets more "girly" at times and he goes from soft boy to looking fairly buff. These last few chapters are especially strong with that.

Damn... now that you mention it...

Reminder...original plan it's to introduce at least another girl char ...

Which the girl who love with that another guy while she alrdy have bf ...

And likely that guy will ask tomo to pretend as his gf so she can drag the story at least until 20-30 chapter more ...

And Thanx to poor sales ...the idea likely being postpone to another arc if this series can still continue long and force storyline to make both tomo and ibuki become couple

There are three main components to breath control, one of them is mental and mental is hardest part. Even without special training the average person can last about 5 minutes without gas exchange at rest, but your brain makes you want to breathe. When you can't you start to panic, your heart rate excelerates and your brain, your #1 energey suck, goes into highgear or (if underwater) you will inhale water an then the whole thing goes sideways.
So the #1 main thing is learning and teaching yourself not to panic when you can't inhale and exhale. This is why pearl & sponge divers can stay down, making physical efforts for 10 minutes or more on a dive.

The other thing to remember, as we get into the physiological side of things, is that what makes you need to breathe is less about bringing in oxygen and more about exhaling carbon dioxide. If you could scrub the CO2, you could last (iirc, i might be off) for over 30 minutes on just the oxygen in the air in your lungs. This part of the concept of scuba rebreathers.
CO2 binds to hemoglobin, the iron in your blood that carries oxygen, degrading its effectiveness until it is expelled. Carbon MONOxide is even more likely to bind to hemoglobin and is very hard for your body to scrub, which is why suicide via carbob monoxide poisoning works even in oxygen rich enviroment.

So what these people who go for long periods of time do is firstly, extended period of times in low-oxygen environments increases the density of hemoglobin. This means your bloodcells are able to pick up more oxygen, and carry more CO2 without the ability to move oxygen degrading to critical levels.

The second part is, remember how I said its not about breathing IN oxygen but OUT CO2? The other trick is to slowly breath out as you hold your breath don't inhale. this will remove CO2 that your bloodcells are dumping into your lungs, allowing you survive for longer.
