Are you forcing more into the nuance because of your desires or are you seeing emotional ghosts? She should have wanted the “relationship” to continue because it acknowledges the complicated nature of what they have: “relationship" depends on the angle it’s being approached from byt the person speaking it AND the one reading it. Simultaneously it would show her subtle change because from her own point of view it at least is no longer “pseudo”, YET moreso shows her unwillingness to attribute anything more to it without knowing how it would be received. By your own writing even “current relationship” has more capacity for regarding the situation they find themselves in.Are you reading with your eyes closed, or are you incapable of interpreting nuance in words? She doesn't want the pseudo relationship to end because she is scared if it no longer existed he wouldn't need her anymore. It has nothing to do with her not wanting more. It has everything to do with her not wanting less. She isn't aware of how he feels about her, and is scared of things changing to something worse. It's the same thing with Koi. She didn't want an answer to her confession because she is scared of getting rejected. Her telling him to not answer her is a direct confirmation that her intentions are the exact same as Niina. They both want the comfort of their current relationship. Uehara has confirmed that he is in love with Niina on multiple occasions. Koi also while being a better developed side character than a lot of other love triangle type manga. Is still severely under developed, and is basically the exact same character from her introduction to now. We have not seen any actual growth in her to justify this "Best girl" label you are giving her. We barely know her. It is fine to have certain preferences (less fine for me because she genuinely looks like a middle schooler), but you are making something out of nothing and displaying a distinct lack of media literacy with your statement.
I would disagree that she is basically the same, but furthermore having the potential for developing more in the story is a bad thing? Because of how they are positioned now, it is the best time for them both to advance together evolving as a pair. YOU are blinded by overweighted preference. You demonstrate a misuse of media literacy and a lack of media comprehension.
