a real adventurer? or a knight?
He's more likely to be an adventurer imo, we don't see a knight using crossbow and dagger just out and about, without a comrade to boot, he might be a solo rogue adventurer.

The bandit group might be on the run, which can explain why they want the village so much and want to take care of the "monster" (since the village will be their base) the leader might also be a wanted man and that adventurer has been infiltrating into their rank just for this.

Oh, that's quite the fight. The bandit boss was quite tough, so I wonder if he was using enhancement magic at a very basic level.

It seems Ren really hasn't practiced wood manipulation that much, so as expected, moving with wooden limbs was slow, whereas when he just had wood armour and was moving by using his muscles and enhancement, he could be fast.

I wonder if Ren's feeling unwell because he's using several types of magic at the same time - wood manipulation and enhancement.

So is the guy who betrayed the boss an adventurer who had infiltrated their group, or just another bandit seeking to take over the group? I guess we'll learn next chapter. He also had a realisation before he went stealthy, but it doesn't seem to have been any insight on the wood monster they were fighting, but rather just that he would have an opportunity to take down the bandit boss. I think he may have noticed the wood monster wasn't killing any of the bandits though and that's definitely a strange thing from a monster being attacked with the intent to kill.

Let's hope that bandit is actually friendly because Ren is hardly in a condition to keep fighting. He needs to split really, although that means the bandits might escape.

Stupid isekai mc with their non-killing policy.
Well, he was a 30+ guy who grew up in an environment were people are practically brainwashed to be polite to others since childhood.
I mean, there is a reason why Japan is said to have the lowest number of crimes especially violent ones, when compared to other developed nations.

Why the hell are you asking us? This is your story. You are the one that should know, and that question is our question to you, because you made the chapter end on a cliffhanger.

So far, the story is good, even with the average art. However, I don't want to see a protagonist who won't kill the bandits. If he decides only to beat them, as if he were in an action movie instead of eliminating their threat, it will make the story seem mediocre to me.

I hope Japanese writers will learn to refrain from imposing their ideologies on fantasy worlds and stories. The last two things I want to see in a fantasy world are: not killing bandits, and wanting to live a shut-in life in a world where you need people around you.

I disagree. It's more like Japanese are conditioned to be socially polite and non-confrontational based on perceived social hierarchy (age, occupation, position, etc). That doesn't equate to the weird pacifism we see in a lot of manga where the character is worried about killing an opponent in a life or death fight. That's coming from whatever magazine the manga is serialized in.

The scene where Ren immediately worries that he may have hit the bandit too hard and killed him, that's just silly. Now, after the fight? That would be a different story, when Ren would have the time to think about it and come to grips with taking a life, but during a fight for your life? That would only happen if you so overpowered your opponent that they have no chance...which was not the case here.

There are so many more significant factors for Japan's lower rate of violent crimes than "They're just a polite society."
