I'm okay with the MC not just jumping everyone that throws themselves at him. I mean, they semi-invaded his island while proclaiming him their ruler and oh, also get some us pregnant, all within a couple of days. Still, would like some acknowledgement that he has a libido and could be interested but is holding back and is not a "girls interested in me?! nosebleed run away / doesn't have lust" style MC.

Yeah, he makes some vague appeal to "ethics", but what's unethical about perpetuating a disappearing population? Presumably, this is just him making excuses for having died a 40-year-old virgin and being really uncomfortable about changing that.

Boys, if girls jump on you and want to mate, it's a freaking red flag. Those girls may bearing someone else's children and wanted to pin them on you. Dude if I'm the MC I'd refused coldly and pretend they didn't ask. I can't chase them away, so might as well find a way to exploit them instead.

yup, I agree 100%, its never fully falls on the shoulders of the author; the publishers and managers push what has safely sold consistently, so the idea of breaking something that, in their eyes, isn't broken, doesn't even register to them. it's one thing i often remind myself when I read manga, and its I'm not the target audience because I'm not Japanese.

I know Iseline is actually the MC, and I get that this Tadashi guy (and the manga in general) is everything the author dislikes about his society, but... it's still hard to read without thinking about how it would be "fine" if a male MC was doing this.
