A kid with expert level stats, ability to tame hundreds of slimes, capable of making store-grade potions and above 7 pain tolerance wouldn't be a side character to begin with. It's entirely possible that this family is trying to get on his good side, since he seems really strong to them.



Also about them not knowing slime evolution conditions- It could just be that it wasn't useful or profitable enough (except possibly for cleaner slime which has the most specific conditions) that nobody really wanted to dedicate their lives to researching them, which is why it wasn't known. ie, it is remarkable for a child to figure it out but it's not exactly game-changing research.

The native monster tamers, what, don't feed their slimes? It seems weird that they wouldn't figure that much out. Sure, maybe some rare types like the cleaner slime, but the way it was presented this chapter, it was as if they had no idea how any slimes evolve. I can't even go with "they were just overlooked for being weak monsters", since they out and out say other people research slimes.

average isekai manga authors cant think that far ahead, 70% of their brains are dedicated to generating face slapping and power trip scenarios. they just slap a "why didnt anybody ever think of this before?!" on it and then look you dead in the eyes and demand that you never, ever actually think about that question, because the only reasonable answer is an entire world of people with IQs under 50
