the style thing is very true! you need to trust your own sense and show who you are. and even if for you that is a fedora or agehao, i atleast will know to stay far far away from you

Oof been there. It’s always difficult to get out of that mentality of centering your entire self worth on another person or persons. At the end of the day you just have to keep reminding yourself that even if you have friends with you you are alone with your deeds and your mind. Do what will ultimately be best for you outside of anyone else. It’s a bit selfish but it’s not simple selfishness that gets a person thinking this way.

This is very cool. But I'd want to say that for some people, self-presentation like what you wear and how you do your hair, just isn't all that important. So then, if you go with the preference of someone you love rather than worrying about it, it may not represent that huge a deal. It's not like you're changing what you read for them, or something. (note: I do have some preferences about, and fun with, my appearance, but I do try to keep it in perspective)
Sometimes people worrying about identity think about how they dress and such maybe a bit too much. Doesn't matter what gender you are or how you wrap your package, if you have no interests, no skills, no politics your identity is gonna be kind of empty.

Teenage angst.
Lovely gayness.

@Purplelibraryguy

That’s perfect. Fantastic. I totally agree.
I tend to dress to make statements. To express my opinion or an aspect of my personality.
I have my own sense of style, but I do seek direction, unconsciously, from how to defy expectations and express how I feel about the world.

I used to dress kind of butch, but in pastels. Short purple hair, denim jacked covered in pride flair.
Then I grew my hair out, started wearing long skirts and revealing tops.
Now I’m perfectly happy with my decision to dress how is acceptable for Conservative Judaism (I’d never been observant before).

That, too is a statement. The arbitrary fashion rules have some justifications attached, but I think it’s really just to be set apart as a group.

Also, as a stepmother and housewife I’m not exactly parading around trying to get seen. I’m fine with less flash.
My wife misses the burnout shirts... she really like boobs.

I quite literally started clapping once Hime realized that, it will be interesting to see what she wants to do from now on
