This would be less convoluted if the author just made her actually cheat. This weird mid-cheating bullshit just makes it even more unrealistic.

I'll be totally honest, this might be where I start having difficulties understanding monogamous straight people. What's wrong with just holding and with someone? Is that like not a normal thing to do with your friends?
This isn't just a case of "just holding hands," she was holding hands with fingers interlocked and arms wrapped around the arm of a man who was clearly interested in her. Whether or not he was her friend before all this, these are all clear signals that she's reciprocating his interest. Also, she was spending time alone with this man on their ANNIVERSARY. That just adds insult to injury.

Even if she wasn't doing all of that, even if she was spending time with this man with other friends, on another day, and he wasn't drooling over her, a woman holding hands with a man in modern day Japan is still undeniably flirting.

Also, this chapter her only explanation is that the man was one of the pageant managers, implying that she was flirting with him to better her position in the beauty pageant. For most monogamous people, flirting of any kind whether it involves romantically or sexually charged touch or just a verbal expression of romantic or sexual interest, is a form of cheating as those things are supposed to be exclusive to your partner. This is a totally normal and expected boundary.

I understand that that boundary isn't there for polyamorous relationships, but it's not like polyamorous relationships have absolutely no boundaries, right? Like if you're dating someone and you catch them stealing your credit card and using it to spend thousands of dollars on gacha pulls, you'd feel betrayed that they'd do something like that to you and not be able to trust them and thus date them going forward, wouldn't you? If you can't understand boundaries or empathize with someone experiencing betrayal of their boundaries just because you don't have the exact same boundary, I'm honestly concerned for you....

No matter how you look at it, Reina-san is trying to say she didn’t cheat—but at the same time, she was caught holding someone else’s hand. It wasn’t her cousin like she tried to claim; it was the pageant manager. So she was holding his hand romantically, but she doesn’t believe holding hands is cheating? That’s physical contact. And not just any contact—she was embracing him, passionately holding his hand. Yet she expects Yuuta not view what she did as cheating.

Even if she tries to explain herself, the way she’s handling this makes it impossible to trust her. Like, come on, bro. She’s despicable. She’s definitely for the streets. Why would you tell Yuuta, "There’s nothing to explain. It’s exactly how you saw it, but I didn’t cheat." What kind of logic is that? Why put up this wall?

And then her best friend Natsuki has the nerve to say, "You should listen to Reina. She didn’t cheat. You still think she cheated on you?" What kind of explanation is this? And to top it off, she tries to flip it on Yuuta, saying, "Well, he cheated first." How? By hanging out with Ayaka, his best friend? Come on now. If Yuuta had actually cheated first, the story wouldn’t even start like this, and he wouldn’t be feeling as betrayed as he does. I don’t buy for a second that he cheated.

And if Reina did react that way because she thought he was cheating, that’s even worse. That just means she let her insecurities take over. Meanwhile, when Yuuta saw her holding another guy’s hand, his reaction was to let the relationship go. That’s a respectable move on his part. He wasn’t out here trying to make excuses—he just walked.

Then after all that baiting, she finally comes up with some half-assed excuse? Like, bruh, I don’t care what happens next. There’s nothing she can say that will justify this. If she wasn’t cheating, why didn’t she plead her case when Yuuta first accused her? She had plenty of chances to clear things up, but instead, she dodged the subject—only to later admit she was holding another guy’s hand.

These 53 pages? At least the second half was just a bunch of dancing around the subject, and then basically confirming what he already knew. That’s ridiculous.

Technically you could, but you have to talk things out, find common ground, set red lines on both parts, compromise and more.
All of that is done with proper communication, something dramas avoid like the plague and this one is no different.

But yea justifying it like "You think it was cheating, I do not. Hence it wasn't cheating" is not exactly a good way to achieve anything. No wonder he left immediately after that.
It makes me wonder what she was trying to achieve with that conversation? How else is the guy supposed to react after that?

Guys, COMMUNICATION is key. Reina is just an insecure bitch. If you have problems with your boyfriend having girl bestfriends you either walk away or FUCKING COMMUNICATE. NOT CHEAT. MC is actually respectable here.

While I hope we don't get to see her again, I imagine that Natsuki will show up trying to defend Reina and I hope the MC tells her off. Will be pretty satisfying tbh.

All in all, the MC has made nothing but the right choices when it came to the breakup and any encounter he has had with Reina since then. She just needs to understand that it's over and there is nothing she can do to start over.

Bruh what type of shitshow is this? The MC is really a prick for not adamantly ending things with his ex he keeps hanging to a false thread of hope while she leads him by the nose what a pathetic excuse of a man
How is Yuuta a prick for having feelings for his ex?!

Are we forgetting that he’s the one who ended the relationship after finding out she was cheating?

And let’s not forget, he refused to talk to her and would have kept it that way if not for Natsuki and Reina-san constantly trying to reconcile with him.

Also, how is Ayaka a bitch? She’s one of the most loyal characters in the series, second only to Shinohara. In fact, she’s the one who kept blocking Reina from messing with Yuuta’s head. No matter if they end up together or not, Ayaka is a true friend to Yuuta.

I mean, I also like this series a lot but hard disagree on characters being presented as actual adults with adult reactions and interactions. Most subjects also are rather superficial in what they truly are and mostly shallow in how they are explored.

This series does only function because they all are overexaggerated stereotypical !young! adults, overly self-confident, self-preserving or pseudo intellectual (like the cringe cheater bitch this chapter).
What was this creepy snooty "explanation" and way of treating MC? What was her purpose this chapter? She legit acted mentally impaired, lol.

This chapter won't change my rating but it was pretty weird and kinda unsatisfying but, alas, nothing can explain what she did away anymore after this chapter- major L for the dirty cheater and a win otherwise IMO.
Young adults, for sure, but NOT teenagers was my point. They're college students, and it feels like it - they're still figuring it out, some are more mature than others, and adult relationships exist between characters. I also don't disagree, the "explanation" wasn't satisfying at all, but it was also VERY REAL trickle truthing/gaslighting/communication gap.

Go read some reddit relationship posts about some early 20s people...this is fairly accurate to how dumb it is ultimately, and the coping some people do to justify their actions. I like that this, while maybe not as narratively satisfying, reads like a real story, which I like quite a bit.

Girl Like Reina belong to the streets.. There's no excuse for this bitch to be in a main heroine after everything she did, Cheating is CHEATING. What the fuck do you mean by "then i'm gonna start from negative from now on" no Woman, No. It's Over :slap:( sorry, every time i see this type of girl always piss me off )
For real, I really hope author dont make mc give another chance

Is the Kouhai the winner? That's all I want to know in the end. Her or Ayaka, but the Kouhai is at least the true path to redemption compared to the friend who thought she could take him at any time.
