I mean, that'd be giving the girl exactly what she wants. If I was him, I would AT LEAST have the self-respect to 1) move tf on from the ex and let myself emotionally heal because that already requires a lot of emotional unpacking. And 2) reject the girl that cucked me in the first place, there would be no if, ands, or buts. If you just got out of a relationship, you give yourself time to heal, you don't use others as band-aids for wounds that must breathe.
I mean who tf cares if the new girl "gets what she wants" as long as HE'S also getting something he wants. With bullshit stories like this I think it's better to have a disconnected view of things, because from the start the scenario is garbage to begin with. So we gotta think "how do we get the optimized outcome in bullshit Manga Land?" Like OBVIOUSLY there's a good way to handle a break up but we aren't in reality here and most manga doesn't care what "health relationship" is.
Realistically speaking she saved him issues down the line AND subbed in for a weak willed GF that either didn't care or was losing interest.
How long was he even dating the first chick anyway? Like he's whining about their relationship but all he's said is that they've gone to watch a couple of movies.
He even admits that their dates weren't this exciting, which leads me to believe they had a normal boring stock fumbling relationship. Which is fine, but honestly is it THAT fucking deep? He's ALREADY conflicted about winning the challenge and is getting feelings ON DAY ONE.
Frankly the moment she said she stole his girl and wanted to date him nothing else should have mattered. At that point I want to know the plot and character motivations. it should've turned into a story about him dating her to break her heart in revenge or something similarly fun and stupid.
That actually would've been an interesting story with a twist on this lame high school romance formula.
But of course we have a stupid manga plot that's half generic, a quarter stupid, and another quarter lame ass weak willed MC.
