135 chapters in we all know what this manga is and who the MC is, which makes reading the comment section painful half the time cuz it's always complaints about what this has been since the beginning.

Is the MC terrible? Yes, yes he is, he acknowledges this, the other characters acknowledge this, Mizuhara has punched him several times because of it. Despite being terrible, we should still only give him crap for valid reasons. Perhaps every so often "grow up already", but not asking his entire character to change every chapter when we know what it is this entire time. We should also acknowledge when he succeeds and is actually a good person. He put in a shit ton of work on this movie, preparing to make it happen, making it happen, etc.

My main complaint is that he is often referred to as a simp. Yes, he's terrible, utterly terrible, but he doesn't fit what is a simp. Early in the manga he tried to tell his Grandma that they broke up. Mizuhara stepped in and they both got roped into more and more BS due to their family. The MC is not actively trying to appease Mizuhara in a shitty attempt to date her. Yes, he constantly has moments of weakness where he temporarily thinks along those lines of wanting to be with her but pushes his stupidity aside to work on what matters, with the most recent example being the movie. He is not making this movie in an attempt to date her. He does it because he legitimately cares about her as a person and cares for her Grandma.
