So he spent what others have to live off for a whole year on a girl(s) that has never (correct me if I am wrong) done anything for him without monetary compensation?
The phone case does not count, as we all know that costs about 10$, and yet he acted like it was a sign that Mizuhara thinks about him romantically.

If any normal person would get wind of their friend spending 30K on something in such a one-sided way they would drag him to rehab.
Kazuya is addicted and clearly lost all of his mental safety mechanisms as far as money is concerned.
What did he get out of it so far? NOTHING!
He says he wants a GF but does not even look at Ruka, who only needs him and not his money (which he does not even have much of now).

Also, I would love to see how they would explain this to his parents.
"Yeah I spent over 30K and including all my college money on this girl and lied to all of you for years"
I hate dragging authors through the mud and Miyajima Reiji seems to be a really nice guy, but if this is his understanding of a healthy relationship and something guys should do for someone they are barely acquainted with then he might have some underlying issues. The drama and personal history of all characters aside, so far we have two main characters that barely progressed and their "relationship" is purely based on money.

In short, you are absolutely right. They should not become a couple.

@isengard007 her returning all of the money does sound like the ending this manga is going for (after the anime ends, volume sales drop and the editorial department doesn't cancel the manga, but gently urges him to end the story and "aim for greater heights")

@DeanWinchester I would say ruka is the same, if not worse than chizuru. Atleast hiring chizuru is kazuyas choice but in the case of ruka, she just threatened herself into kazuyas life all for her own sake. She doesn't give a rats ass about kazuyas feelings. So technically ruka needs kazuya because only he, according to her, can increase her heart speed, which is a selfish reason and is a really destructive one. So, to me, ruka and mami are both on the same level of "get rid of them at once"

That would explain why Chorizo's always so broke despite being so expensive, something that Kazuya had noticed many many chapters ago. But... I'm not holding my breath.

I do NOT like Ruka. She always cries and tries to force things to go in her favor.
My point was that Kazuya tries to justify himself with "I want a GF" but never looks around him and is simply addicted to Chizuru, leaving his other private matters/relationships in shambles.

The only really good girl is Sumi. Then again that might only be the case because we have seen so little of her.

Thank you. Good manga, but different and somehow uncomparable. Horny teenager with bad experience vs man without experience. One can't control his lust and don't know what he want, other wants to overcome shyness to be able to talk normally with women (and compensate for lack of communication). One manga gives you spice (ecchi, masturbation, conflicts, simping), other is clean.

Nah, author fucks up timeline, forget about "That's gotta be you! I want you!", Mami and twitter, quitting rental gf job. Story is full of guns, but they don't shoot. Wasted potential everywhere.

So, 1 youtube video, 2 manga titles and what about that rental stuff?
-Gifts are allowed, but not expensive (vid, Tsukita check, Kanokari fail),
-Prices about ~100$ (50% girl / 50% company) for 2hours (vid check , Tsukita - fail, KanoKari check) ,
-Holding hands is not a big deal (vid, Tsukita check, KanoKari fail),
-Typical customer in mid 20s (vid, Tsukita check, KanoKari fail).
KanoKari maybe twists reality and offers spicy dragging. Was fun before, but now... soap opera.
And readers continue simping for girls. But why? Sumi failed to seduce Kazuya and then retired (actually good ending), Ruka just an adrenaline junkie and wants that suffer, Mami can't let him go without suffering, Chizuru don't give a fuck about him. Ok, what Kazuya gave to them? For Sumi - courage and opportunity to fall in love, Sumi tried to confess without complicating things and gave him courage instead then retired. For Ruka - emotional rollercoaster (and he is the one right now who is capable of doing this heartbeat thing), but Ruka can offer more lewd and thrilling situations and can't simply retire, Kazuya doesn't really want any of that from her, she doesn't care. Mami wants him suffering, like many readers, he gave her new reasons (rental stuff). He gave Chizuru money for pretending, pretended for her grandma, realized her dream, offered help. But she always stops him from doing things right (ending this relationship), wanted proper confession from him (even after recognizing an improper one), stopped sending any signals after moviemaking arc, and now this date and dress. Now Chizuru is the worst one, only taking, no giving. Yes, that arc could be somewhat important and she can stop that renting with Kazuya. But come on, it's still weekly, anime s2 confirmed, we got more chapters till the end of s2. And author will be milking this manga - it's not for fun, it's for the money not in a bad sense (after this manga he need another serialization, which is hard to get). This manga gone past several culmination points and I don't see the next point (last is the end of moviemaking arc).
But another chapters with boring Chizuru are also boring.

Yup, it's so unhealthy, for everyone. Remember also that Kazuya has his part-time job only so that he can keep renting Chizuru. He's literally working so he can rent her for an hour or two a week and give a week's pay to her. And it seems unlikely that she has a drawer full of money, because if she did, they wouldn't have needed to work so hard to raise money for the movie. There'd likely be something else in there. Probably a dragon dildo that she straddles while making money on OnlyFans on the side.

Because here's the thing: Chizuru is basically a prostitute that offers the "girlfriend experience" rather than sexual gratification. She's an escort. She goes on dates with men for money, and she goes on dates with men other than Kazuya. While Kazuya is slaving away at his shitty job, she's getting wined and dined at a nice, upscale restaurant by a 40-something year old guy and then they hold hands and walk down the street together... and anyone who doesn't think Chizuru has a love hotel option for an extra fee is a gullible idiot. Nice girls that you want to bring home to mom don't work for an escort service. This is basically a version of the idiotic movie Pretty Woman. Hooker with a heart of gold or some nonsense.

I mean, what's his game plan anyway? Let's say they start dating and she makes it big. Now she's kissing and having sex scenes with her co-stars in romantic comedies or whatever and all the pressures THAT industry brings to young starlets. If she doesn't make it big, is she what, going to stop hooking? Of course not. They'll be "dating" but she'll still be going out every night on dates with other men, out of view. Who wants to put themselves through that?

Honestly the only person with any sense is Mami, she saw what a loser he was and then dumped him right away to go out with someone else and we haven't seen her in 100 chapters. That's because she's out living her best life with a guy who won't freak out about holding hands (or giving her a good dicking).
