Pretty much, it allows you to pick the best of however many embryos based on genetics. How many good embryos you get depends on the number harvested and tested, sibling genetic compatibility and luck of the draw. From the good ones, that being the ones that aren’t homozygous for any lethal recessives, genetic disorders or MHC DNA, you can theoretically pick the one with the best genes for things like height and intelligence. If you have a choice why wouldn’t you pick the one with the best genes?
I've heard this! Isn't a tube for conception around $10k? And it's not a guarantee either...

It’s cheaper in countries like Mexico, Turkey or other popular medical tourism destinations. But yeah it’s expensive, the testing is done in addition to regular IVF, it could be 20K, but depending on how many good eggs you get and how many kids you want you can save tested eggs that you know are good and implant them for much less money than doing the whole process over again. You can also get genetic counseling to evaluate the risks you and your sibling have. I estimate that 10.5% of sibling couples will have minimal risk of inbreeding due to no shared genetic disorders and no MHC overlap. I will not be explaining how I reached this conclusion, but expect some more incest math from me in the future about sibling genetic compatibility.

I love how we got a scholarly discussion on a chapter about a sister snorting her brother's cum fumes.

At first I was thought comment section just like "incest is wincest" or something like that. And this is far from what I thought. Really informative tho. I like this comment section.

Did you know that hypothetically modern medical technology could allow two siblings to have children together with zero increased risk? Using preimplantation genetic testing you can test embryos to see what genetics they have. This can allow you to select an embryo which has a good amount of MHC variation, no genetic disorders and depending on how many good embryos you have you may even be able to then select for desirable traits like intelligence and height. Modern medicine can allow you to have perfect babies with your sister, just something to think about. It can be expensive though, it’s tens of thousands of dollars.
what are the chances of a mutation occurring though? i mean theoretically its safe but still genes are still unpredictable thats why we have cancers in the first place right?

I would presume they would be roughly equal to or lower than regular, all you're doing is genetically testing embryos so you can make a judgement on whether to implant them or not. We've been doing this for decades, it's not new technology at all.

i thought you were talking about full on gene editing instead of just testing embryos, my bad i misunderstood that.
