Not really related but this actually happened in our country's history. Emperor Lê Long Đĩnh got the throne exactly by having "assassings" barge in killing his brother Lê Trung Tông. Trung Tông only ruled for 3 days after a bloody war of succession. Long Đĩnh, in turn, died suddenly at 24 after 4 years and Lê Dynasty was replaced by Lý Dynasty.
You can tell he was... not very loved.
