Every time I see it depicted, more and more White Day just seems to come off as the biggest pain in the ass possible.
I mean the guy/otaku said it best. White Day's a scam made by the chocolate/candy industry in Japan to sell more goods. Anything made by corporate propaganda is a pain in the ass at this point. It's a wonder why the west hasn't adapted to such tactics yet.

I don't know how well it would work to try and split things at this point. Growing up, it was always Valentine's that everything put into it for both boys and girls -- but it also wasn't really a "thing" either by High School.

Thanks for the TL!

Sounds like you need an editor. Granted that's a hard ask given that it's a hobby that takes a lot of time and makes no money. I've done a little bit of TL work myself so I totally understand how you can hyper focus on getting the details of the original language right which ends up making the translation clunkier.

Someone who isn't biased by the 'original' script might be able to smooth it out (I wonder if that's how they do it in bigger TL groups, or if they just rely on the same person to do both the TL and the 'editing' in English)

Typically, larger groups have a different person responsible for proof reading or quality checking (when looking at credit pages, it's usually marked as PR for proof read or QC for quality check).

A full scanlation team would be:
  • redrawer (RD)
  • translator (TL)
  • typesetter (TS)
  • proof reader (PR)/Quality checker (QC) (Note that the QC may also verify the work of the other roles, whereas proof readers would typically just focus on the text itself)
