In 40K universe, this man would be a model Imperial Fist.

Unyieldingly stubborn and strait-laced to the core, but with an exceptional martial ability to back them all up.

He would be like Sigismund, the swordmaster of the VII legion, and the Emperor's champion.

I'm actually so impressed by this manga, art and story are A tier when I thought this would just be another generic trash LN adaptation
I think the story is just "OK," but I agree with you about the art and thought put into the fight scenes, that's really what's drawing me to this series. As an example of the general type I still think Bard Knight Louen is the better "old master swordsman, who's still very humble, goes around helping people and solving problems" but this one is definitely better than the typical isekai/fantasy adventure.

Could also be a good Salamander or Lamenter, IIRC those guys go out of their way to be nice to civvies.

Imperial Fist? Most likely, he certainly fits most if not all of the qualifications.

But a Black Templar? And Sigismund of all people even? Oh no... he's not fanatical enough to even come close to that madman.

He's more like something inbetween an Imperial Fist and a Crimson Fist.

nice actual good characters not being overshadowed by the mc and actually being a threat to the antagonists

Nice to see my boy vice commander getting some serious development, standing his ground against one of Beryl's student, Fissel, protecting Kurumi best girl, brute forcing his way to catch the thief (who's no small fry himself, he pulled a Sikorsky against Kurumi and managed to escape the heavily guarded place). I like whenever author takes his time to introduce and develop side characters, it always enrichs the story for me.
Yeah, I hate when side characters are only there to make the MC look better by comparison and not get any real development. That was a genuinely cool chase and it was a great example of showing what he's capable of as well how he approaches situations rather than telling. It made him go from someone for the MC to humble to someone I'd actually want to see on the page again. I'm really starting to like this guy.

I like this character but why in the gods did they have Twilight in such a place? They KNOW he's part of a bigger (and higher up) conspiracy that would for sure silence him in a heartbeat. Hecks its weird Twilight himself thought they were rescuing him.

The last time I've seen panel composition for action scenes this clear and exciting was when I read Golden Kamuy. This artist is extremely talented.
