I understand the church's plan here, and I understand the lust for power would make the younger prince be grateful to the church for setting him up for the throne, but I'd really like to see a narrative play out where the crown prince is bumped off, the second prince takes the throne, but instead is just:

"WTF you guys killed my brother? I loved him you assholes! I wanted the throne but I didn't want him dead! Fuck your church, I'll burn the whole thing down!"

In the Anime, Rose just brazenly asks what's the escort plan and which place would be perfect for an ambush, and Allucia just fucking spills everything, even tho' Rose is just another grunt in the operation.

I quite like it when an organization as big as the Sven Church has factions. From the looks of it, most of the church aren't particular in politics and are simply performing their duties as clergymen. But there are also those who wish to seize power from an entire kingdom, or commit atrocities to raise the dead. There are even members of the church that support the prince, despite it meaning they would lose power.

Nope. Those are actually remarkably accurate (though a bit anachronistic/mismatched) historical clothing. The Mr.sandman hat he has is a very simple silhouetted chaperon. Depending on the time and place, lower class people were literally prevented from donning one (not just a noble peacocking thing, but also the prevent the poorer classes from having to overspend on such faffery), but that's both a late and a leanly made one, which is a bit unusual for what little I know of those. He also probably would have it on his shoulder while praying. Also, that embroidered garb must have cost a pretty penny. A loose outer wear like that could be worn on top of many kinds of wear (even armor) and could be used to signal status, position or even affiliation. Think of hockey jersey, but extra posh.
