I think they are hinting that Kaya is not a full reincarnation, thus why she has a will of her own, and that the other half of the 1st priestess is what is inside the belly of her mom.

Likely something like the 1st priestess's concentrated hatred incarnate, now lacking the part that made it "good" that Kaya was born with.

Those phantom hands that guarded the door had the appearance of fetus limbs. Remember the Granny was deeply afraid of Kaya when they met the first time back in Ch. 15 and begged her for forgiveness. I imagine there is a cost/hidden side to the cursed ritual and the fact that Kaya's Mom performed it seemingly independently of the Ebisumori Clan's supervision, not once but twice, is really having some repercussions.

Also on page 4, I'm really curious about the two names on Kaya's family tree that are blacked out by ink.

so what I’m thinking all the first born get possessed by the soul of the priestess, and once anew heir is spawned the soul is passed, however the former inheritors still have their own souls.
what if the 2nd soul possessed child is the acclimations of every former inheritor, all those limbs representing the individuals combined.

I cannot wait for one of the last chapters to be the title. We all are expecting it and honestly, it'll be hype if it happens.

It didn't bounce though? The creature didn't target Kaya to redirect the harm onto Nana to then direct it onto Grandma, it just directly tried to kill Nana which killed Grandma instead because she snuck a charm into her bag.

So very much horror happening here.

First horror: Sensei is trying desperately to be the best protector and ally Kaya can have, because her precious student is in a BAD family situation, and is likewise desperately reaching out to others who seem to have the same goals.

Second horror: Ebisumori family has been doing some pretty heinous shit for generations to their eldest daughters.

Third horror: Kaya's Mom has doubled the amount of heinous shit, doing heavens knows what to her born and unborn children in the process, out of spite for her sister.

Fourth horror: whatever the fuck happened outside the hospital room. JFC, that was chilling.

Fifth horror: As demonstrated by Grandma Ebisumori, good intentions are NOT going to be enough to deal with whatever hell Mom has called forth into the world.
