So her hatred was so vivid it manifested into an evil spirit and haunted her childhood bully's child?

I agree with this. I sincerely doubt the actual bully (the "perfect" mom lady) would even feel guilt for her bullying in the first place. I suspect it was done unconsciously on Mayumi's part.

Oooh that's why Kaya chan didn't do anything to the entity. It's not a ghost or evil spirits that she usually exorcise
It targeted the child: the child saw and interacted witht the spirit long before the mother saw it.
Yes, interacted with the child in order to target the mother. The target is who you are intending to harm or affect. The spirit wasn't targeting the child by teaching him bad language. It was targeting the mother by teaching the child bad language.
See I was wondering if maybe it chilled out a lot when the mom wasn't around.

Like look at the playground scene:

1. Teacher approaches Kaya and Shouta, who are swinging a jump rope for seemingly no one.

2. Kaya asks if the teacher only wants to talk to Shouta but doesn't say much else after confirming it.

3. Kaya ties one end of the jump rope to a tree and continues swinging it as Shouta and the teacher leave.

My interpretation is that a) it didn't say anything mean around Kaya, b) it was playing jump rope, and c) it listened properly when the teacher said she only wanted to talk with Shouta.

Makes me imagine a spirit with 2 modes:

1 (bully absent): nice, fun to play with

2 (bully present): gets mad, cusses at bully

Would match the beginning of the chapter where kids are repeating something they overheard rather than something someone said to them.
