you must not allow human hands to take it away
So it needs to be born on its own for the curse to work.

Kaya was born via c section so shes part human part cursed spirit. Shes adamant this one be born naturally (dangerous to the mother in real life to do it that way but if she intends for her and the curse to be released it makes perfect sense)
But the clan is just her now dead mom and her super weak sister. Who is left for her to kill.

It's starting to feel like when that thing is born the town will turn into the setting for the next Fatal Frame game.
Ive always been interested in those games but never had a chance to play them. They any good?

Yes. In terms of story and atmosphere they do a fantastic job of creating something eerie and despairing. Pretty consistent through the series (1-3, 2 in particular, are widely considered the best in that regard, though 4-5 aren't bad at all).

They mostly play similar to the old Resident Evil games (tank controls) but you switch to first person to take photographs of the ghosts for combat. Typically you want to time it to get them just before they attack to stun them, knock them back and do massive damage. Of course, ghosts are trickier than zombies...they can vanish and reappear at a different spot in the current room or spend some time hidden in the walls making you paranoid where they're approaching from. Locations with narrow halls/corridors are pretty tense due to this.

You're also lowkey playing Pokemon Snap on the side. Occasionally you'll see or sense something off in a location, with some quickness you can snap up a photo of ghosts just doing their thing (hinting at their identity or fate) before they disappear. Again, really adds to the atmosphere.

Seems to be some sort of weird magical evil absorbing spell in human soul form.

I think?
I think Kaya was her first attempt at cursing the Ebisumori family by getting rid of Nana, but the hospital spotted her and gave her the C-section she mentioned, thus ending the ritual prematurely. That's why when Mutsu spotted Kaya, she immediately recognised her as a curse against Nana and got the picture, thus going mad. It's probably also why the mother is leaving the hospital now, to prevent hospital staff from noticing and foiling her attempt again.
