In most stories i'd say yeah, but this isn't shounen, it's seinen, this story has NTR, rape and genocide aplenty, yes it has it's comedic parts but slavery is not even close to the worst thing that happens in this series, especially since slavery can also act as a geass effect.
That being said the asian, especially the japanese view of slavery is a bit...off from historical slavery anyway, as japan never technically had a slavery system as we know it (though one could argue the commoner's life wasn't much different in ancient japan) so how they view slavery is vastly different than the western world view.
That being said historical slavery was rarely as horrifying as people think it was aka the torture and beating kind you see in stuff like roots, it did happen but it wasn't quite as common as people were led to believe by movies usually, at least not in europe and the us where there were laws on slaves rights and protections against mistreatment, in south america and the Caribbean however, yeah they usually worked them to death.
This actually reminds me of Delphine LaLaurie, a notable serial killer from pre-civil war america who tortured and killed slaves, when people found out what she was doing they attempted to lynch her but she was able to escape back to france.
I think it's pretty clear that the Japs view the topic of slavery more leniently, or at least, differently, since they keep making use of it willy-nilly in their relatively light-hearted story.

And as for "well this isn't shounen...", that reminds me an argument I made like 10 years ago: "And Yugioh has mind-control, kidnapping, eternal torture in hell, enslaving souls, etc -- that doesn't make it a mature story"
I.E: Just because the subjects are present (like NTR) does not mean it is a bonafide mature story. This is a very low-stakes powerfantasy, very shounen story. If it wanted to be "serious", it could've done so -- but it really isn't. The whole "terrible" aspect of slavery feels really irrelevant to the overall structure of this story and theme, and it's not the first one to do this.

Sain will get his, Toru isn't playing around anymore! Do remember he DID try to beat him in Chapter 1 if not for brainwashed Nei kicking him! This time, Sain won't have anyone ready to save his ass, he'll be beaten and treated like a FOOT NOTE that he is! Toru has something WORSE planned for him, the REAL threat is "his Ex Lisa!" as she is the REAL villain of the story

Lisa is the Demon Lord, she was never brainwashed, hell she's the one who GAVE Sain the fucking Eye in the first place! The reason she was RELAXED to act openly around Soana and Nei, Soana ESPECIALLY is because she was SO SURE and you can't fault her for this, that NOTHING was getting in the way.....other then some "upstart Party that came out of no where!" As she hasn't connected it to Toru yet! Like Sain she will be PISSED, but mostly because Toru was suppose to be a NON-ENTITY! He was suppose to DISAPPEAR once he part in helping CORRUPT Sain was finished, same with the girls! She never factored them EVERY getting past their brainwashing...well Soana anyway, Nei she doesn't know is still alive! Toru will after Soana gives the OTHER PART OF THE FORESHADOWING Nei gave, start to question Lisa's "Damsel Status!" Right now she is the BLOCK that keeps him and Kaede from getting together fully because a part of him is in "wait she was brainwashed....that meant everything she said wasn't her own!" So right now he's full on "giving Sain that ASSWHOPPING he deserved, it would have been one thing if the girls did and said what they said of their free will, but they didn't making Sain MORE vile then he thought before! But with the revelations that Lisa "the favorite" had CONTROL as he figures Sain would NEVER let any FEMALE tell him what to do, yet Soana makes it clear, especially what happened with Nei, Lisa was the one to put the ideas in his head and the fact "she got ANOTHER Female Priestess that was hot and STRONGER then Soana, yet WEAK ENOUGH to be charmed is very NOT brainwashed behavior since the girls had their faculity and individuality surpressed! So no way she could have done ANY of that! By the way the REPLACEMENT is a "MALE" Demon in disguise! The Novel made it clear when the JIG was up and this was revealed to show him "patting his ass" meaning Sain INDEED had sex with him as fast as possible for a sad sex pig he is, don't know his FULLY reaction as his suprise was more Lisa was the Demon Lord, but I'm sure he would not be happy knowing how much he OBSESES over being a "man among man" type!

Again remember that Nei and Soana had their potential SABOTAGED along with Toru by Lisa all for the sake of Sain getting what he wanted, because if he got what he wanted, Lisa can manipulate him more easily cause against, Lisa does not like the moron! The Hero Title is Kyrponite to her! But it's more dangerous in someone like Toru's hands then Sain as he's so weak that she CAN kill him EASILY before it eveen becomes a threat, but Toru, he can last long enough! The Hero title LEVEL DRAINS the Demon Lord to make them easier to kill! She's 800, Toru is 400 AND experienced, he can last, Sain is basically a Level 1 fighting a Level 100 that got level drained to 70! Doesn't make a difference. Sain is FOREVER a joke, what he does later DOES remind that he is a threat to an EXTENT, but compared to the BIG PLAYERS and even the SMALL Players in the BIG BOY GAMES which is Toru and Lisa as the Biggest! He barely makes it to PAWN! Kaede is a QUEEN by the way! LOL

But yeah Toru shows NO MERCY to him OR Lisa, especially the Latter once it FULLY becomes clear their entire relationship since childhood to Chapter 1 was ALL A LIE and the woman he met in Chapter 1 who set him up with Sain, and at the point of the reveal, that was Lisa's TRUE self, what's worse is she's WAY older then them both! Him and Sain, so effectively he had a "old Hag" seducing him after murdering his parents all this time!
but reading spoilers like that, just makes me feel like maybe the LN has better overall tones than the adaptation does.
It's kinda like how Overlord the anime, is genuinely a much brighter and colorful story than the LN is. The diff is light and day, and the same might apply here, too.
I'll stop talking about this subject for this story, but I still honestly feel like 99% of manga that makes use of Slavery, just use it for the sake of "being easy" without really thinking too hard about it, and that's crazy to me no matter how "relatively regular" they might think about it...

I think it was more he didn't know where "That thing" was! Even finding "Soara" was LUCK and happenstance! Worse he would have MISSED the carriage had he NOT gone looking for "That Thing at this point! He KNOWS where he is now, so it's time to go straight there and "save Lisa"........

The real mastermind of Sain's evil bad behavior (not that he isn't innocent either EVERYTHING he did was by his own will and CONTINUE to do so! But yeah Soara DOES remember just like with Nei that his EVIL actions were all "done under Lisa's advice and prodding!" Even the "set up" in Chapter 1 was by HER suggestion! You think Sain with his low opinion on female agency and how he beat up Soara would be PISSED Lisa dares to tell him what to do

But it's because LISA GAVE HIM THE EYE IN THE FIRST PLACE! As MC discovers once he hits her with the water....she was never brainwashed, SHE'S THE BLOODY FUCKING DEMON LORD! She was corrupting Sain to keep him alive so no new HERO can appear! The Hero title, activates when a Hero faces a Demon Lord, no matter HOW strong they are, the Demon Lord, in which Lisa is really AT THE FUCKING LEVEL CAP which reveals to MC that "yes she was never under mind control EVER" they will start HEMORAGING LEVELS like the HP Bar in Earthbound! The Hero just has to stay alive till the Demon Lord is weaken enough to be killed! So basically Sain is KRYPTONITE to Lisa, but ONLY if he shows hostility towards her. Lisa has him SO in her control that he shows what a LOSER he is when the REVEAL happens! He's CLINGING to the fact "he beat MC, Lisa loves him, not MC!" It was pathetic before when he thought she was under mind control, but afterwards, it's very clear and the story MAKES IT CLEAR LATER with other reveals that Sain is LITERALLY a "small dick loser" that last part LITERALLY as some of his victims who still REMEMBER the rape attest to! Think about it, the girls can do NOTHING but obey and praise him, and he's a selfish PRICK so OF COURSE he never gets BETTER at Sex, he has no reason to! Don't worry, he gets the ending "he deserves" in the end. But ultimately he is a loser who gets reduced to Lisa's DRAGON as the conflict becomes less "MC vs Sain" and more "MC vs his EVIL Ex, as Lisa NEVER loved him, she KILLED HIS BLOODY PARENTS and only GOT with him to get CLOSER to Sain and start up the shit HE DID by giving him the Eye and ENCOURAGING his bad behavior! Soara and Nei were "unfortunate" like MC as they existed in her plans for Sain "simply to have Sain KICK THE DOG so to speak with all three of them, Mostly for HER amusement! She's like "Juno Enoshima" from Dangan Ronpa in her OBESSION with "Despair" though more in "she loves doing it to others, NEVER herself!
You know, I had a feeling that’s what Soara was hinting at when I translated the next chapter! In the translation, as she was parting ways with him, Soara was trying to warn Toru that they were something different about Lisa!

Go back to the village with nei and starts anew. Dont dare latch to MC now coz the fact that she's a prietess, she should have a unique skill that offers some kind of resistance to the curse, even with the level diff. The word "scum" she uttered to MC destroyed everything.

I mean if you are brainwashed, you are brainwashed. Just cause you think she should have magical priestess "immune to curses" powers even if level difference doesn't mean much. She was already brainwashed, in her broken mind what MC did back in chapter 1 was a scum behaviour so she said what she did.

But yeah, she should go back to home where Nei is, mostly cause the level difference would make her a hindrance to their team without some sort of power levelling ark.

Mind you such an ark would be a nice addition, making story longer, and if its supposed to end in a harem with them two freed from brainwash childhood friends added into it, having them levelled up so that they could add their 2 cents into killing/beating up the people who put them into the brainwashing in the first place would be just sweet to read.

As a side note: I kinda hate how the artist draws legs in this manga. For a leg fetishist like me, seeing characters drawn with legs shorter than their torsos, with calves the size of a decent thigh - its just meh.

Let her also beat up Sain.

That's the least you can let her do.

Also, the MC should already expect Sain to do the worst stuff to his own friends instead of being surprised every time.

This is coming from someone who read the Web Novel! I wouldn't know too much on the LN (I usually only read th WN and Manga of something! And there have been OCCASIONS of changes if permitted where the LN is NOT followed 100% to the latter. Just my thoughts though, not like Harem hurt anyone IRL LOL

But thanks for clearing it up none the less!
On the WN we get the same, only thing can't fully remember it's if It's eight or nine at the end

wives I mean... It's frau, kaede, nei, sora, alyusha, a demon girl called pione, a princess and the noble girl we met early in the story, the one who had a maid, those 8 I'm sure become wives, the only two in sure won't become wives are that maid I mentioned and the cat girl from the previous arc we just finished in the manga

Well... Yeah? Their whole story with the concept of slavery is different than in the west, it's obvious that their degree of taboo for some stuff would be different

Understandable! Didn't care for it either in the Novel (I read the web Novel, but not much is too different then the "official" LN/Manga specifically the "him making Nei and Soana slaves! Hell Soana pretty much DRAGS HIM to the building to make it "official!" In the WN too they DID explain the reasoning for making Nei a slave, specfically for the mark to prevent her from killing herself! The manga did a good job SHOWING how she was at her lowest and giving off "If you take your eyes off of me, I WILL kill myself" vibes as much as she tried to hide it! This one made Soana "awakening" even more funny! After how she acted up till now, seeing her reveal it was all an ACT well BEFORE she was brainwashed really shows how Sain is LUCKY it worked out for him, as she WOULD have bend him like a pretezel otherwise! She's more mad he got one over on her! Specifically the REAL her would have thrown hands the second he laid a hand on her, the brainwashed her was FORCED to act the "demure weakling she was pretending to be!" Note it was so good, even TORU didn't realize the truth! Though still good to free her because you saw her state when he had to buy her! It was a LITERAL "living death" trapped her in own body that experience! And adds more to Sain's "vileness" as said, "The one behind him" you already KNOW they did it for their own reasoning that makes sense for them! But Sain was still the one to CHOOSE what he did and does! So he's not nor EVER WAS innocent!

Thanks for the chapter, KB.

Well, damn.

The thing about priestesses is that they're a mixed bag. You have some who are softly demure, who can even seem to carry a healing aura; you also have those that have the capacity for ridiculous physicality. Then you have those who are demure, but also keep that prodigious physical strength under the silken, soft surface--and make no efforts whatsoever to show it until there's a reason. You roll the dice and take your life into your own hands, mistreating one.

On a side note, I do hope everyone can remember to keep spoilers--however small--hidden behind tags. This story's too good to ruin that way.

MC has 8 wives unless I forgot one and a minimum of 24 children in the epilogue. The princess is from Grayfield kingdom, and the noble is Marianne and her maid is already married and has a child. In a bonus chapter focused on Marianne, she said her maid took a maternity leave.

I lack confidence in these writers.

I feel whatever his end it'll be unsatisfying.
Thor will beat his ass effortlessly, cutting his right arm, and then beating his face to a pulp, and he'll stab his thigh to make sure he won't escape after the demon lord defeat. He'll dragged to the Kingdom where he'll be imprisoned and humiliated for one week before he get beheaded. As for Thor, he won't bother to assist to the execution.
