And quite commonly later on in plot of those series, they showcase some people who enjoy killing normal people because they are bored of killing Zombies, and it keeps on escalating from there.

You are right in the sense that: "Zombie movies exist as a proxy to make killing people OK, it's wanton death and destruction without hard feelings".
But that's also in the sense that: "It's fine killing <extremely aggressive and easily understood people> because <they want to kill us and there's nothing we can do to change that>"
With slavery, you don't really have that leeway.

Zombie movies are pre-problematized, there's no real problem here. Any film that goes from killing zombies is okay -> killing people is okay, will not be as thematically shocking as: "buying (poor and sad) slaves (that I can heal and they'll be happy) is okay -> the reality of selling your friends and family to slavery, the horrid reality of the human species"

I've no idea what's up with this obsession of having a harem of women at your back-and-call, but ALSO have a prim-and-proper-"moral" MC that technically "does them a favor by buying / branding them, they are forcing me..."
I am getting aggravated just typing this message, it just occurred to me how tired I am of how "cuck" the Japs write their MCs, it's maddening.
(A white knight who's not allowed to "stain himself" by killing or "forcing women", but ends up doing all of that anyway inadvertently, to own up the fantasy anyway, just without any "moral consequences" on their character).
Like seriously, if you, as a writer, want an MC that has a harem and dominates his foes -- also give him the personality to do so. I'm currently reading Oukokue Tsuzuku, and that's exactly what the MC is, without all of the prancing around, playing games of pretend.

And this is why slavery in manga is just bad news, at least whenever authors try to be "feel good about it".
I.E: "I can't trust anyone, let's get some slaves who'll be my friends! I'll treat them well!"
Yeah, okay, and then some time later I need to see child slavery, trafficking and selling off friends and family alike. Great. Really what I want from my turn-brain-off-feel-good-power-fantasy.

In most stories i'd say yeah, but this isn't shounen, it's seinen, this story has NTR, rape and genocide aplenty, yes it has it's comedic parts but slavery is not even close to the worst thing that happens in this series, especially since slavery can also act as a geass effect.
That being said the asian, especially the japanese view of slavery is a bit...off from historical slavery anyway, as japan never technically had a slavery system as we know it (though one could argue the commoner's life wasn't much different in ancient japan) so how they view slavery is vastly different than the western world view.
That being said historical slavery was rarely as horrifying as people think it was aka the torture and beating kind you see in stuff like roots, it did happen but it wasn't quite as common as people were led to believe by movies usually, at least not in europe and the us where there were laws on slaves rights and protections against mistreatment, in south america and the Caribbean however, yeah they usually worked them to death.
This actually reminds me of Delphine LaLaurie, a notable serial killer from pre-civil war america who tortured and killed slaves, when people found out what she was doing they attempted to lynch her but she was able to escape back to france.

Honestly don't know, I do believe they do stick to him, however I think it's as friends!

Nei is in no condition to pursue her feelings for him as thanks to the brainwashing, she wouldn't know or TRUST her own self for a very long time, lets not forget she was brainwashed AND raped as she was in no condition to give CONSENT! Which is why I hate BRAINWASH Harems! You will NEVER sell me on the Brainwashed Harem members giving consent! I don't get WHY some writers are trying to make that a THING! Isn't that as shown with Sain here "something you give to VILLAINS!" Even with ANTI-HEROES there is a LIMIT before you can no longer call them HEROES and just call them "Villains with more steps!" The point is even THEY aren't willing to cross some lines! Everyone's favorite Anti-Hero Punisher for example has always made it clear his LAST bullet will be for him if he EVER harms an innocent and he is GREATLY affected if he DID kill an innocent even by ACCIDENT! He's always been good at planning his attacks to the LETTER to assure this! It's also why he NEVER accepts being called a HERO. Because he KNOWS he's as horrible as his enemies! The difference is WHO they target, he target them and ONLY them, they target the innocent if not him or each other! The moment even an ANTI-HERO crosses that line, there's no going back, that's why it's called "Moral Event Horizon"

Soara never saw him I think as a love interest, respected him, but love, nope, even the "Scum" was because she was seeing HER IMPRESSION OF SAIN because of the brainwashing on him instead of Toru! Remember Sain had to PROVOKE Toru into attacking him "unwarrented" because even brainwashed, in her and Nei's mind, they "just wanted to let him down gently" and he had to act like a dirtbag instead of accepting reality (remember again only Nei and Soara were unaware, Sain ASSUMED Lisa was as well and NOT THE ONE PULLING HIS STRINGS so he's not as CLEVER as he believed he was!) He had them BOTH think "Soara changed her opinion and fell in love with him" and "Nei gave up her crush on Toru and saw him LIKE A LITTLE BROTHER!" That part will haunt her and as I said "she will take a LONG WHILE to trust herself again! Because "where does Nei's life and agency begin, and NEI THE SLUT AKA Sain's puppet begins" to her! It's why the Slave mark had to be placed on her and Soara, Soara at least I belive acknowledges she's in no condition to help Toru, remember the fact she's charmed till it was removed means she's still lower level and TIME is of the essence! And anyone want to go "but she could stay on the sideline!" That always a risk Sain will see her and reapply the Charm! And with her mind as is, she'd RUSH HIM or SHOUT BLOODY MURDER despite being WEAKER, you KNOW he had to keep both her and Nei weak on purpose to keep them under his control and the Elf Queen and Lady Marianne both showed him that he can't charm the strong, likely why he started abusing Soara more, Unlike Toru who strived to grow stronger, Sain instead had to let his SMALL DICK convince him that "he was better" and beat up "weak women" to remind him of such! I wouldn't be shocked Lisa avoided getting BEAT less because she was a TROPHY and more because deep down, his sub-conciious DID realize her idenity and was WARNING HIM it would end badly if he struck her as she just MIGHT "forget" herself

Lisa is the Demon Lord, she was never brainwashed, hell she's the one who GAVE Sain the fucking Eye in the first place! The reason she was RELAXED to act openly around Soana and Nei, Soana ESPECIALLY is because she was SO SURE and you can't fault her for this, that NOTHING was getting in the way.....other then some "upstart Party that came out of no where!" As she hasn't connected it to Toru yet! Like Sain she will be PISSED, but mostly because Toru was suppose to be a NON-ENTITY! He was suppose to DISAPPEAR once he part in helping CORRUPT Sain was finished, same with the girls! She never factored them EVERY getting past their brainwashing...well Soana anyway, Nei she doesn't know is still alive! Toru will after Soana gives the OTHER PART OF THE FORESHADOWING Nei gave, start to question Lisa's "Damsel Status!" Right now she is the BLOCK that keeps him and Kaede from getting together fully because a part of him is in "wait she was brainwashed....that meant everything she said wasn't her own!" So right now he's full on "giving Sain that ASSWHOPPING he deserved, it would have been one thing if the girls did and said what they said of their free will, but they didn't making Sain MORE vile then he thought before! The Novel made it clear when the JIG was up and this was revealed to show him "patting his ass" meaning Sain INDEED had sex with him as fast as possible for a sad sex pig he is, don't know his FULLY reaction as his suprise was more Lisa was the Demon Lord, but I'm sure he would not be happy knowing how much he OBSESES over being a "man among man" type!

Again remember that Nei and Soana had their potential SABOTAGED along with Toru by Lisa all for the sake of Sain getting what he wanted, because if he got what he wanted, Lisa can manipulate him more easily cause against, Lisa does not like the moron! The Hero Title is Kyrponite to her! But it's more dangerous in someone like Toru's hands then Sain as he's so weak that she CAN kill him EASILY before it eveen becomes a threat, but Toru, he can last long enough! The Hero title LEVEL DRAINS the Demon Lord to make them easier to kill! She's 800, Toru is 400 AND experienced, he can last, Sain is basically a Level 1 fighting a Level 100 that got level drained to 70! Doesn't make a difference. Sain is FOREVER a joke, what he does later DOES remind that he is a threat to an EXTENT, but compared to the BIG PLAYERS and even the SMALL Players in the BIG BOY GAMES which is Toru and Lisa as the Biggest! He barely makes it to PAWN! Kaede is a QUEEN by the way! LOL

But yeah Toru shows NO MERCY to him OR Lisa, especially the Latter once it FULLY becomes clear their entire relationship since childhood to Chapter 1 was ALL A LIE and the woman he met in Chapter 1 who set him up with Sain, and at the point of the reveal, that was Lisa's TRUE self, what's worse is she's WAY older then them both! Him and Sain, so effectively he had a "old Hag" seducing him after murdering his parents all this time!
