I know it's been a while but recall what he did to the folks who killed his family waaaayyyy back at the start of the manga. A literal bloodbath

I love how the regular troops are beyond fed up with this now. It's nice to see that despite loyalty, they have limits and are pissed about the whole debacle... (Usually the nameless grunts just die or run off, it is rare to get to see them deal with the failure of the leaders.)

So they're basically trying a major flanking strategy from the forest. It's a good place to attack from. Hard to move through, especially if you don't know the area.

A commander who ignores advice is always a good sign. For the enemy.

The ground drying isn't always a particular fast thing, depending on how much sunlight there is. But it's certainly something to consider waiting for, unless you're really in a hurry.

Well, this is actually a more common argument used in Asian region, since education level is considered more important than experience.

The other argument is,
"I have lived longer than you, so i have more life experience (even though in my entire life i have never left the village/town i had lived in, where as you had traveled around the world for years)"
