I agree it’s not even like she was evil or spiteful. she like a lot of people in the world are just assholes without knowing it and would’ve changed had she been told about it earlier. it’s clear she’s regretful of her treatment of him and was genuinely unaware of how mean she was until now. I don’t hate her at all

Nobody's that unaware. She merely didn't care about it back then because she was full of herself. Only when Finn was gone, she started to realise what she had lost. Most of the grief shown is Alfine feeling sorry for herself due to that loss. Such as lamenting she can't anymore tell Finn she's sorry about the way she behaved. That's fundamentally selfishness, as it indicates she would feel better if she could apologise to him. However, Finn is already through and finished with her. He's living his own life fully already. Of course he's such a jovial guy that if she did meet him and apoligised, he would likely accept it. But he doesn't need it. She does. Just look at how he's living: He's now developing far more rapidly than he ever did under Alfine's command. He's meeting interesting people and doing things he couldn't have imagined before. There's not one slot in his schedule that would require Alfine's input. Alfine, on the contrary, has been obsessed with finding him ever since he left. That tells you something, doesn't it?

I don't hate her character either, though. She's too insignificant for such a strong emotion.

But the "wholesome" parts are dumb as fuck as well.
MC ran away from his bitchy GF, felt it's necessary to entirely change his whole identity just not to chance a meeting, and what does he find? An overly clingy woman that spies and stalks him, and then acts all cute.

I.E: MC went from one relationship to be hounded by another. It's not a good premise (I've been flipping throughout most of the manga.)

However, this sort of dark plot is actually more interesting to me, especially because of how cheap and exploitative it is.
That is to say: She got a title due to how strong she is. When she finds out she was gamed, she can potentially destroy half the kingdom. That sounds fun.

i know this is an old comment but i agree with most of what you said but she also mentions that she wants to apologize and leave meaning actual character growth in having sincere remorse for her actions growth like that is always welcome to me. not to mention shes been with the mc since they were kids and is the main reason hes like what he is currently in the story that doesnt seem so insignificant to me more like a major plot point that finn needs to deal with to grow on his own. although fboi wanna rape seems retarded ill give you that.
