Thank you for the TL. It wasnt as bad as some out there. For a 1st try it was good, hopefully u'll continue to improve more in future.
To be fair, sometimes is better any translation than being forever a dropped series u never get to see the end so im bias to judge, mostly sine was fine as a 1st.
Just a thought, i respect your desire to TL this for the passion for the series even with the barrier language and i appreciate the effort to bring us the chapter while being busy, but have you tried to check with "shikachu" if they're done with the series or if they're fine with you stepping in? Just so later if they continue it, it doesnt makes everything awkward since they were doing a great job with the series.

Really late to this (I’ve been super sucked in to a manga series that is releasing its final volume in a few days, so I haven’t checked MangaDex in a long while).

My honest feelings are that it really sucks to read a manga that is so dear to me in this way, it’s just… I sincerely appreciate the effort, and I’ve helped to fan translate some visual novels, so trust me when I say I know(!!!) how hard translating is.
But there is just so much missing here in terms of basic grammar and feeling; when I went back to the original Japanese, it’s just night and day.

Things like, 「夜の森って真っ暗だな」could be translated better as “The forest is completely dark at nighttime, huh…“

The 「ミミ、教室こっちだよ」「あ、また間違えちゃった」
exchange between Mimi and Sheena reads so robotically in your translation. I’d probably say something like, “Mimi, our classroom is over here.” “Ahh, Mimi messed up again!” just to make it a little more natural.

In this whole section of 「あと、ほんの数歩でこの足は戦場に届いてしまうのだと、みんな少しずつ気づき始めていた」The feeling of the Japanese is totally lost. I’d even “reverse“ your translation a little bit to say... “Little by little, it began to sink in to all of us, that our feet would reach the battlefield in just a few more steps.” To give it more of a feeling of dread and nervousness.

I’m also just roughly translating on the fly, so yeah.

Um, I realize I wrote a lot, and I’m not sure that anyone will read this like, 4 days later (lol), but I’m just trying to get across that I’m not sure if your grasp of English is strong enough to continue, even with future effort and correction. And I mean this with the utmost respect.

If you’re willing to have me, I’d be more than happy to work with you to help the English translation flow more naturally, and cross-check it against the Japanese!

Whether or not someone wants to experience KimiShinu this way is their choice, of course. But as it stands right now (again, respectfully), I generally couldn‘t in good faith, recommend this translation to anyone, and it would be a terrible way to experience such a heartfelt story.

When I translate, I always make it my foremost goal to give the reader the same feeling that I got when I read the original Japanese, as much as possible. This is… (and again, I mean this with all respect) not that.
