can anyone tell the difference between a new character and a returning one without rereading the whole manga to prep before the exam?

Mitsuki’s friends seem very perceptive of what happens around their friend. At first, I thought it was only Marin with the whole “interesting person” thing in the previous chapter where Mitsuki herself pointed it out. But the face Izumi made when the President and Mitsuki talked seemed like she knew something… Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that both Izumi and Marin seems like they already know what Mitsuki is going through even though they’re still waiting for her to tell them about it (which already happened in the previous chapter where they agreed to wait for when she’s ready). Such a good friend group.

This story has a lot of characters and I understand it can get confusing to determine who is who with the long breaks between (and the fact I read a lot of stories at the same time). I was confused as well around two chapters ago and decided to reread everything from the start for a refresher, not only for the characters but also the plot.

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one. This manga has a serious problem making its characters memorable and distinguishable enough.
And at the rate at which we get updates (no shade on the scanlation folks), I have enough time to forget all the cast between every chapter.

Nope to all questions. All the side characters except pres have effectively had 0 development beyond "part of X caste" so I don't remember any of them at this point and probably never will. This also suffers from extreme same face syndrome, so the only differentiating details in most panels is the hair which doesn't help
