I think this takes the crown from Luminous=Blue for most bonkers threesome twist, if only because that series ended on the twist and this one seems to be continuing. I guess this isn't the world's most serious manga or anything, but really, they're ALL sold on going poly within nine pages?

I'm realizing that this setup is actually incredible. It's a triangle where everyone has at least moderate affection for everyone else, but each person has a preferential affection for a different person. Karasuma feels more strongly for Fushimi who feels more strongly for Shijou who feels more strongly for Karasuma. But on the other hand, there's a balancing effect from the more minor relationships, Karasuma strongly respects and admires Shijou who is fascinated by Fushimi who respects and admires Karasuma.

IT'S MATHEMATICALLY AND GEOMETRICALLY PERFECT! THE FORCES BALANCE OUT! A STABLE SYSTEM! :meguupog:
It less "balances out" and more...
Like, imagine their triangle as a spinner. It has three greater forces applied to each point from one side, and three lesser ones from the opposite.
Assuming there are no other things in this system, this spinner will eventually start spinning at the speed of light, just that that point will be later...
I wish I could explain it simpler, but you know, English second language and all that...

Lets fucking GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think this is the first time I've seen a poly relationship actually happen in a proper comic like this where the two girls are the only ones that haven't had their love feelings for each other properly solidified. This does however mean we get to see Shijou possibly develop feelings towards Fushimi, which based, good. We need more fluster from her.

Thanks for translating! Extremely based chapter I can't wait to see them be useless idiots at each other

Hell yes. :smugchisato: That triad balances nicely, everyone has ties, communication is strong, and it would even be able to fall apart in a healthy way. All three have been shown to not be jealous of the other pairing, but they all would be lonely without each other or being excluded. The only jealous personality is Hoshimi and she has long turned that fury towards interlopers... That's the major threat to a poly relationship gone. It'll probably be a healthy relationship that grows stronger because Shijou acts plenty queer and it will be interesting to see how she processes open flirting. With her bf or gf. And no weird or creepy power dynamic! With the half-mutual interests there was no tidy solution. Other than ▽.

This seems to have been the plan all along. I'm so glad I randomly picked this up to binge-read today.

The issue with the saphic subplot was that Fushimi felt like a loser and could (and with most authors would) let her feelings fade or do nothing until it's too late. Her crushing on Sho could have been handled far worse. This looks like we're starting an arc about Fushimi and Shijou finally dropping their walls instead of just repeatedly thinking how the other is attractive... Finally.

No matter how much saphic appreciation was in this series, I didn't trust it. That's even with it having a Girl's Love tag when I just started it today. Not just straight romance but many yuri from class S to present have the girls somehow grow out of it. Some are tragedies some are cute-pattern propaganda with very dark messages. When a story has this much... call it gay vibes or oxytocin or eye-banging... without taking a step for long-term gayness it's usually a red flag.:worry: At the very least it ends up fluff, usually a bit dismissively or titiliating in an sliiiightly othering way.

But Rimukoro-sensei didn't build this with a harem or titilating focus that treated the saphic parts as lesser than. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea and nothing Shijo is mindful of, but well realized and with enough focus that I would have seen it as bloat if this story didn't address it up front. Very nice.

Now that Fushimi isn't being such a loser I think I'll be happy even if the poly doesn't work out.

Never thought i'd be against that kind of scenario, but eh... it seems like a big cope right now
The boy hasn't shown any of that kind of sentiment towards the mangaka, even in this chapter, it's implied he's doing it out of duty
The mangaka isn't gay
The girl hasn't done anything that makes her likeable, only ever acted as some kind of drama point to split the boy and the mangaka, with her obsession over the author as her personality
It's basically 3 unrequited loves shoved together, none of them will be able to give the other what they want, cuz they only love the third person
It's shitty

Everytime they spend time with their SO, they spend it KNOWING that the other person has eyes for only the other person.

That should count as torture.

this was NOT where i expected this manga to go. i thought it would be one about letting go of past loves and moving forward or something but goddamn. lets hope its done right

This is whole relationship is just a big cope. They don't want anyone hurt so they formed three dysfunctional relationships.

I could probably accept this resolution better if the premise were the boy loved both of them, while mangaka and the classmate are bisexuals.

Each side of that triangle is dysfunctional as fuck.

This. I get why it went this direction but this is just cope. The GL tag makes me even less interested to read this now wonderful. Even the gay shippers are writing paragraphs of excitement with no actual understanding of the dynamics of the characters in the story.

Also poly as concept does not work unless everyone is attracted to everyone the way this started is not with that in mind. Course I expect the author to make it work but eh. If it's like poly relationships I've seen I'll have more popcorn for the stupid drama
Why it's weird?
Weird is when they make 5 girls or more in a mega harem just because.
This is one is just a regular poly relationship, something that is more common than most people know (it's just that as far I know most poly people don't make it public)
Ye and if it's like any poly relationship it will crash and burn with someone getting jealous. Much like how a harem can't work unless it's a top tier dude who can manage multiple women. Something that is borderline fantastical.
