Edit: in a series with assassins and ninjas, I think it’s oddly appropriate that mc’s absantee mom is secretly a vampire. Now that the sister drama out of the way we do need some new story thread to serve as background noise for the real meat and potato of this series - the progression of yuki & hitoyoshi’s relationship

Like I said in my comment on the previous chapter

the mother kinda implied that she was transformed after Hitoyoshi was born, maybe they were afraid she was going to attack her own son. Maybe Riko is actually a half vampire since there's no problem with her living with the mother? Or maybe there's no problem since she's a girl and vampires only would attack opposite sex with the husband being able to handle a vampire on his own? But even the father only comes home every now and then probably looking for a way to undo his wife's condition?

So he does visit his mother from time to time just like his father goes visit them both. But I don't get why he can't live with her. Does Hitoyoshi only visits her during the day when she's weak and wouldn't be able to do anything to him if she lost control and attack him? I just think Yuki here doesn't get how sad and lonely Hitoyoshi is because of his family situation and is one of the reasons he got attached to Yuki herself at the beginning. At least he can be with his sister for most of the time and they have a good relationship even though Riko is probably the one who knows the least about it.

But I loved this gag with Yuki shining so bright she actually hurts the vampire mother.
