Does Sato start to like MC now? Way too late girl.
It definitely is trying to give hints of her being more than mearly "friendly" with him. Poor girl if true, being perpetual third wheel of a world destroying love triangle has to suck.
Based on some of the shots and framing, I think the other girl also likes him
Sato's mood is similar straightfaced concern towards Aru though. She feels kinda alienated too, like she's proven to not be enough or brave enough to run forward? The convo Sato leaked she's older emphasized that cultural weight too, more older senior sisterly. It's notable she thinks she can persuade the new junior and is a bit awkward with an indestructible brat she can't. (A brat she's had to stalk on hot-mic for years)Does Sato start to like MC now? Way too late girl.
Uhh.. those would be weird endings. To say the least. If you're looking for a tropish ending, it's much more likely that he'd just die and she wouldn't be able bring herself to destroy everything "Because she knows that's not what he wants" or something. Turning him into an Eldritch being is also an option as well, her killing herself so the world doesn't end and so he can live a full, happy life is also very likely, although she'd probably have to have the foresight to make him enjoy living without her first and I'm not sure she'd bother thinking that far ahead.Saw this coming from the last chapter so there is that... Really, the author wrote themself into a corner with no sensible way out.
.
Now what happens next will likely play out like a standard trope... take your guesses.
- A 1 way trip to the sun with MC and the girl and hoping the star will burn them out(?). Burial in space is plausible, but no idea how powerful/strong the girl is.
- A 4D chess element (banished into the void/sealed in another dimension ala magic or black hole/wormhole), thanks to the ignorant miko girl for that possibility.
- Universe gets wiped and reborn with elements and/or memories of the MCs ("muh eternal love shall be reborn" type).
- MC gets put on cryo sleep/stasis to "never die" thus the girl has to wait an eternity (if she doesn't go berserk over his stasis imprisonment.
- The "baby" route is possible, but unlikely as she said she would destroy everything. Unless MC is reborn as the baby.
I think the reason for the blankish expression is probably that he's already said he's not afraid of dying and would rather stay with her regardless of his lifespan. She cares about his wellbeing, and is more than willing to sacrifice personal desires if it means he doesn't fucking die, but if what he wants lines up with what she wants then no one who matters really cares about his lifespan anymore right? It's now become a casual subject to them cause there's nothing they can do about that they're willing to commit to. If she could extend his life in a way that he's okay with, she might even kill herself tbh if that's what it took. This is probably why they immediately start joking about how she'll shatter into a million pieces, fall into despair and depression, kill everyone and then kill herself whenever he dies. Maybe she'd joke about that regardless actually. The scary part to me is that she didn't show any emotion while apologizing about being the likely cause of his death in two years (pg. 31). She kills those who threatened his life and then shows fear and anxiety about him leaving her (pg. 26). She has the ability to feel sad (ch. 4) so: does she see him as a person or is he more like an object that can give her that happiness she wants and fill that loneliness she feels? This could be an irrelevant question (I'm not sure the story is going this way) but I do wonder.
