It definitely is trying to give hints of her being more than mearly "friendly" with him. Poor girl if true, being perpetual third wheel of a world destroying love triangle has to suck.
Based on some of the shots and framing, I think the other girl also likes him
Does Sato start to like MC now? Way too late girl.
Sato's mood is similar straightfaced concern towards Aru though. She feels kinda alienated too, like she's proven to not be enough or brave enough to run forward? The convo Sato leaked she's older emphasized that cultural weight too, more older senior sisterly. It's notable she thinks she can persuade the new junior and is a bit awkward with an indestructible brat she can't. (A brat she's had to stalk on hot-mic for years)

Could be more, but I'm wary of reading into it. Though considering style from Nakatani Nio's famous yuri, it'd be darkly funny if Sato is romantically double-doomed.

I can see one potential route. He impregnates her before passing, and then in the final moment she realizes he's still with her via DNA, and the world is saved.

Damn, im really looking forward to whatever the author is cooking cause it's just chapter 8 and we still just "potentially" learned about the most important conflict here (second to Aru being the one that will ends humanity existence).

Also, i just really like secret organizations and this one is really interesting.

This chapter is very Ultra, man

Thx for the TL

The scary part to me is that she didn't show any emotion while apologizing about being the likely cause of his death in two years (pg. 31). She kills those who threatened his life and then shows fear and anxiety about him leaving her (pg. 26). She has the ability to feel sad (ch. 4) so: does she see him as a person or is he more like an object that can give her that happiness she wants and fill that loneliness she feels? This could be an irrelevant question (I'm not sure the story is going this way) but I do wonder.
