An improvement from last chapter, but not by much. For now Soukichi is still among the weakest male leads in the romcoms I've read, even one step below the also weak lead in Gotou-san wa Furimukasetai! and I ended up dropping both versions of that.

I roasted Soukichi last chapter but I don't think this is enough for me to take it back. As usual it's the popular hot female lead Kasumi that's inexplicably hard carrying the romance, since I don't see what she sees in him, who has yet to develop redeeming qualities.

I don't even know if he'll develop, but from this chapter it doesn't seem to be soon enough...

It hasn't officially ben axed but nothing new has been released. Everything I found said it sold well and I don't think the author would of ended it like that if they weren't confident it would continue. Then again the last volume came out in 2020 so who knows with all the shit that happened after that. Though you wouldn't think it would get a manga adaptation if they didn't think the story would sell. By the way both volumes were licensed and released in english by a small publishing house. 1) The raws this chapter were flaming garbage. Or at least they were blown up to the point of being flaming garbage. I understand if this was the only option available, but yikes.

2) The cliche storm I posted about last chapter continues as we now add "she's a teasing, indirect idiot who plays up being coy and refusing to be direct because it's supposed to be cute even though it's only there to fuel the MC's ongoing lack of confidence/conviction." as well as "we see her blush at the end so that we can treat it like a cute misunderstanding even though it's entirely and intentionally character-created and plays that whole 'Japan is more in love with the idea that feelings should be expressed indirectly and saying things out loud directly isn't as romantic/proper as forcing people to read conflicting and confusing cues"

Like I'm not even sure what the hook of this series is supposed to be. It all feels so artificial that the characters aren't engaging. It's all the cliches without any hint of a solid foundation that makes those cliches interesting or tolerable. it is the most generic "cute popular girl likes loser guy rom-com" plot with nothing to make it distinct or ground it other than the fact that its entire existence is just hitting the tropes like it's ticking off boxes on a checklist.

Yeah at this point we need a reason why the FMC likes MC, seriously how is he any different from any of the other people around her? Him liking her I can get but the other way around just makes no sense to me. Whats even worse is there was no repercussions to his clearly "beta" mindset and childish hiding he did last chapter. In any real situation he'd have been dumped on the spot for that crap.

I haven't yet heard of a series that someone else continues where the last author left off before something happened to them, so I'm going to be a bit optimistic of this one's author's health with that in mind. Also, it would usually take 2-3 manga chapters to make up 1 chapter in the light novel, so the original author should have some time before the manga gets caught up. Let's hope there will be some development by then.

Well, if he weren't alive, I don't think they'd adapt the light novel into a manga late last year, two years since the last light novel was published. I haven't yet heard of a series that someone else continues where the last author left off before something happened to them, so I'm going to be a bit optimistic of this one's author's health with that in mind. Also, it would usually take 2-3 manga chapters to make up 1 chapter in the light novel, so the original author should have some time before the manga gets caught up. Kasumi's pretty cheeky. She had a dark aura, which tricks Kuroya into being afraid for a bit. But then her sunny demeanor shines through and makes him feel safe.

Kuroya losing a game of Othello because of nerves is probably what Kasumi wanted. Then she got to listen to Koroya saying "I like you" over and over again. Her saying "I love you" made him blush, which adds to her cheekiness. But she surely didn't expect Kuroya saying these three words to make her blush. I guess "I love you" really is that strong.

To everyone saying there's nothing good about this MC with terrible social skills, did ye not notice?! He's better than her in Othello. Clearly by winning at Othello over and over he warmed her chilly heart.

Jokes aside maybe there will be some backstory that explains how they got closer over the last year, but so far these characters are made of cardboard. It's like the author is making barbie and ken kiss.
