I feel so bad for him. His aptitude is more like his mother but because he's a guy everyone's expectations is that he MUST be like his father. Treynar might be an asshole but he's a blunt and honest asshole while his parents always go we're strong and perfect, there is no need to change the status quo and assume the same for their son. Sadith, while aware of his troubles and the fact he wasn't really suited for swords, is still a servant and must obey orders. She prioritizes his opinions and desires over hers and will assist in her own weird twisted way

They could've just not said the whole "It's ok if you lose" thing and just cheered him on, but of course they didn't because even if they don't mean to be, they're assholes like pretty much everyone else. Treynar is at least straight with him and says that he could win but not by trying to be his dad since he isn't suited for that fighting style, he doesn't just expect him to lose regardless of him training like everyone else seems to.

So after catching up with the WN it looks like that
Everyone around the MC, including Sadith and his mother, had thought that the father was giving personal lessons to his son which helps to explain the whole "You gotta be like your dad" spin that is a constant presence around the MC. The mother has literally not been home for like 90% of the year(s) since having their son because she travels around the world for her work so she remained oblivious to what was actually going on. The father doesn't know how to handle being a dad so has been extremely aloof and coming across as uncaring towards his son even though both he and his wife love him very much. So in essence, two people who had no idea how to raise a kid had a kid and left the heavy lifting to their adoptive daughter because they couldn't be assed to take the time out of their (extremely warranted) busy schedules and show their love and support to their only son. This all comes to a head during the tournament however...

MY only guess as to why his parents are so laid back like this is they don't want their son to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders like they did?

@Beezy No, more like they don't know how to raise a kid. Besides, they all want him to be like his dad. There's a whole mess of misunderstandings going all over the place, and no one having a real heart to heart talk with the MC. Basically, the only person he can have a "real" talk with is the soul of the demon king. Which is sad, considering everyone around him (except that love rival(?)) loves him, but they are all also pushing their own thoughts on him as well, without ever considering how the MC's feelings. It's the same old story about the inferiority complex ridden MC wanting to prove himself, everyone not talking, tons of misunderstandings that make things worse than they should be.

The only difference is that his only "real friend" is the Demon king, which is basically everyone's enemy.

@BlackFIFA19 because he already did with the dad, so he already knows it's useless and would feel as he's just venting his inferiority complex at them (sadly is their friggin fault for not knowing how to raise their kid... like you can say you love the kid, but are you actually raising the poor lad?)

@crasyn making a cliffhanger in a spoiler tag, not cool dude

@Arkanataraisa Chapters 24-27
The next chapter should cover all of MC's Vision training where he's able to pick up the more minute details in people's movements
