If you look him up on Wikipedia, you'll see that he wasn't even supposed to be there fighting anymore, records mention his execution going through instead of him escaping (or him committing suicide), so he is certainly not living any longer I'd assume.

Li Mu's (Riboku) execution doesn't happen until years later in 229 BC whereas the story is currently at 233 BC. So he certainly isn't supposed to be dead yet.

I think Kanki (Huan Yi) is supposed to die here but like others have mentioned Riboku (Li Mu) doesn't die until a few years later, after the king of Zhao suspects Riboku of leading a rebellion and has him executed

My understanding of this battle is that Kanki is trying two things.Get Riboku (failed), and in case of failure have Riboku's army achieve a pyrrhic victory. There's still a second massive army led by a great general, and you can replace soldiers that easily.
