Yes, go into one of the chapters, open the menu, use the Report Chapter button, select the "Incorrect or missing volume number" reason, and then explain what's up.Hey, this chapter was posted between chapters 5 and 6 because Chapters 1 through 5 were marked as "Volume 1", Chapters 6 through 9 were marked as "No Volume", and this chapter was marked as the first Chapter of "Volume 2". Is there a way to fix this?
Right? It's like judging OPM's physical strength by asking him math quizzes. MC's too dumb and think his ability to crush boulders is miraculously gone when the test result showed 0.Oh? What's this? A new challenger has entered the fray?!
But seriously the 'mana index' is one of those plot devices I hate, because really I just want to see him use his powers. Instead we get panel after panel of number low means useless unga bunga
to be more fair to him, whether or not he can get a job in this field depends entirely on this number. There's also the issue of most people not knowing how magic ore works, as opposed to the magic gems or whatever. Other seekers don't get a strength boost, they just get more of a specific element of magic. Boosting your physical abilities is strictly a magic ore thing which no one else eats and very few researchers study. With the information he has, it's reasonable for to think that it's just doing something to his body but not his mana and that won't get him the job. If he tries to prove himself, his abilities, and how he got here then he has to risk getting arrested, since clearing a dungeon and eliminating it as a natural resource is a serious crime.Right? But all these reasons for why is exactly what's annoying. They treat the very limited knowledge they have on mana as gospel. The job isn't to have high mana. The job is killing monsters. Having high mana doesn't equal great adventurer. If he kills monsters using unknown methods, or even creative ones w/o abilities, then he should pass.to be more fair to him, whether or not he can get a job in this field depends entirely on this number. Actually, he is not really an underdog, he has been hella OP an not realized it.Thanks for the chapter. The story is still pretty silly, but it’s not terrible.
I just wish they didn’t lean so hard into the “underdog becomes the strongest” trope.
well, it's basically industrialized/monetized entirely around the development of white magic. Everyone basically takes a position in the elemental chain to support the farming of white gems for healing magic. Not only does magic ore not have a clear place in this chain, using it is a very poor and stupid trade off by normal seeker standards. Absorbing a magic ore could dye (making it unusable for anything else) pretty much all of their mana for a less than 1% boost to your overall strength, reaction time, or just eyesight. Because it had such a horrible turnaround for the main goal of this for business and society, healing magic, public info on it was left at "it doesn't do anything good, don't swallow it" and those who research it are ignored/underfunded. There was a researcher who specializes in it and was ousted from the scientific community by a competing scientist through framing her.But all these reasons for why is exactly what's annoying. Matter of fact, why aren't they doing everything they can to collect data from all their explorers? Why isn't there a single way to self report when something strange happens? I just can't accept a status quo where they don't even seem curious enough to question the most interesting thing happening on the planet.
Probably my only complaint about this story that I think is very fun overall.
That's actually really important info I would have liked included. Afaik the manga never said ore would neutralize mana capacity. That said, this is all explanations from the web novel. This has already gone in a significantly different direction.
He started off as an underdog compared to his peers, and from others perspective still is.he is not really an underdog
oh wait, did they never explain this shit at all? Yeah, the way it works is basically, fight monsters and absorb colorless mana -> eat the gem or ore and 'dye' it that color. Then you can use magic of the associated element up to the amount of mana you've dyed. Most top out at only a few hundred. This is because you normally reach certain bottlenecks where further absorption becomes really difficult. You might overcome it with time and be able to absorb more but, if you don't, that all you got. However, monsters B rank or higher you can absorb from them regardless of if you hit these walls, so they are a good way to overcome it. Most seekers can't fight them in the first place though. This is also why the mc's mana was able to grow without limit, almost everything he's ever fought was a weakened high rank monster. That's actually really important info I would have liked included.
