It's hard to tell if he has recognized the arachne as what it is or not. The way he was commenting, it could go either way on whether he recognized it as the strong monster arachne or not. But he is incorrectly assuming the "training monster" is weaker than a natural one.

Do you expect him to get any GOOD recognition given his appearance and powers? Though the story has diverted heavily from the old WN version, in that version the government carried out his EXECUTION before acknowledging that he was even human, and that's with him running around and helping stop monster outbreaks. It was almost to the point where they needed the revive spell.
